@ShereleMoody With each woman being murdered, the $3M budget allocated to a Royal Commission into Domestiv Violence in South Australia is absurd, farcical and insignificant. Labor announced a $50B increase to spending on big pointy things that go bang yesterday. Women's lives matter!

❤️SHE MATTERS: LESLEY STILLMAN!❤️ Can we talk about how nine women have been murdered in 18 days and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has managed to organise a meeting of men. But only men who are religious leaders and the meeting was in response to a teenager attacking a church leader two days after a man slaughtered five Australian woman in Bondi Junction - and a male security guard. I'm exceedingly flummoxed that so many women can be killed in a matter of weeks and our PM hasn't thought to ... oh, I don't know ... organise a meeting with women about this? Or with men? Surely the killing of 67-year-old palliative carer and avid traveler Lesley Stillman on Sunday is now enough to light that fire. Lesley was murdered in her own home by her former partner. After ending Lesley's life, he killed himself. Lesley is the 29th Australian woman lost to violence this year and the ninth woman killed in April. WA Police have confirmed they are treating the deaths as a murder-suicide, with a note found in the home written by the killer. He wrote: "Won't get justice. Will die with her." A source close to Lesley has also confirmed with myself that the fun-loving woman was murdered. Lesley had only recently left her partner. Lesley was as generous in spirit as she was in life. She provided support for Guide Dogs Australia and voluntary palliative care for people with terminal illness. The day before she was killed, she spoke to neighbours and friends, all of whom say she was her happy self. She had spent time travelling overseas and enjoyed going to fitness classes with her mates. Lesley really was not very different to any of the women killed this year - all going about their business, living their best lives - and then erased. With almost every femicide this year due to male violence - and with 29 women killed less than five months, you'd think something has to give? You'd think at least our PM would call a summit, a royal commission, a plain old meeting even. We need action, we to work out what is going on and to find a solution. Here's the reality. A total of 29 women have been killed this year as a result of domestic terrorism. A grand total of ZERO people in Australia have been lost to acts of other forms of terrorism. And yet that latter subject gets more political air time than the misogyny that's ending women's lives every few days. I reckon Lesley deserves something more than silence. I reckon she deserves actions that show she matters. ❤️SHE MATTERS: UNNAMED WOMAN!❤️ In June of 2022, a man called Jeramie Massie stabbed a woman repeatedly in the shoulder. He was placed on an apprehended violence order and that seemed to be the end of the situation. Except, it wasn't. On International Women's Day 2024, it's alleged Massie stabbed another woman. This time, the victim did not survive. She was his mother. I don't know her name. In fact all I know about her is her age - 60 years - and the fact that she is dead, allegedly murdered, and her body thrown into the boot of car. She is also the 16th of 18 Australian women killed this year. For me, the saddest moments (and yes, there are many sad moments) of documenting women killed are those moments when I realise another woman has been erased doubly - once by her alleged killer and then again by the mere fact that their lives and deaths are not worthy of the effort to track down their names and to show their faces. I aim to tell ALL the stories of women killed, to share their names and to share their faces so our community understands the sheer enormity of the femicide epidemic in Australia. Not every woman gets the coverage they deserve and not every woman's death causes outrage. I cannot show you the face of the Evans Head woman. I cannot tell you her name or reveal her the story of her. But what I can tell you is, she matters. ❤️SHE MATTERS: JOANNE PERRY!❤️ This is 53-year-old social worker Joanne Perry. Joanne was murdered by her daughter on International Women's Day at her home in Lower Plenty, Victoria. Police shot the killer dead after she refused to stop attacking her mum. Joanne is the 17th of 18 Australian women killed this year and one of four women killed so far in March. Joanne is the only woman killed by another woman this year. This fact does not make Joanne's life or death any less important than the lives of women killed by men. Indeed, as a woman I find myself trying to work out what we females need to do to reduce female violence in our community. It's a work in progress and to be honest, I am far from the solution. In the meantime, I hope you take a moment to think about Joanne. She matters. @LAND2LOVE @CollinRugg Most murders happen when they leave or try to. Depending on where you are in the world, there may not be access to safe housing for her, let alone her children. He murdered her. He got 10 years Her, her children, those that loved them got LIFE!

NEW: Texas man Carey Birmingham sentenced to just 10 years in prison after murdering his wife after finding out she was cheating on him. Carey confronted his 48-year-old wife Patricia Birmingham in their driveway with a shotgun. Right before shooting her, Carey said: "Alright, goodbye. You're going to meet Jesus, I hope it was worth it." Despite the shocking murder, Carey was sentenced to just 10 years in prison and will be up for parole after five years. "My dad died that day, too, because the person who did that to my mom and my father aren't the same person," the daughter said. "No matter what was said in this trial, you know what type of woman she was, and you know what you did and how he took away my favorite person in this world."

❤️SHE MATTERS: AMARJIT KAUR SARDAR!❤️ Most people know her as the 'tractor death' or 'slasher death' victim but she has a name - Amarjit Kaur Sardar. On Friday, Amarjit's husband allegedly murdered her and then tried to make her death look like an accident at Woodhill in Queensland. He even called 000, allegedly lying about how the 41-year-old woman died. He has since been charged with her murder. Amarjit is the 10th Australian woman killed this year. Amarjit is more than a headline. She was raising two children, working on a property in Queensland and living her life the best she could. She was also experiencing (allegedly) ongoing violence at the hands of her husband. We know police attended the home following multiple reports of abuse - and yet her alleged abuser remained free. Amarjit was also being supported by a local domestic violence support service. It will take time before we know exactly how and why Amarjit fell through the cracks of the domestic violence and police safety nets that were meant to support her. In the meantime, I can only hope this woman is remembered as more than just the 'slasher' victim. Remembering her name is the least we can do for Amarjit and for her children. She matters. Detectives have charged a man with murder following the death of a 41-year-old woman at Woodhill in Qld yesterday. She was allegedly run down with a tractor. It's understood he is her partner. She is the 10th woman killed this year. ❤️
