So few old school diners are left in Cleveland. Danny’s Deli at 1658 St. Clair has been holding it down since 1978. Once a Plain Dealer hangout, still a locals’ spot. New partner Sam, longtime Slyman’s, all Cleveland. These places survive because people keep showing up.

Great seeing baristas Gabriella Schoch & Tricia Kinnane outside Rising Star, always serving the neighborhood with care. They stopped by the brand-new, excellent Visible Voice bookstore in Ohio City for coffee and browsing. Hard to capture a moment here, staff rarely get a break.

Visited the new Ohio City spot, Visible Voice Books at 4601 Lorain Ave. Met Grace Lejar and Nick Salata enjoying a drink. Loved talking with them and seeing the bar, theater, and shelves packed with amazing vintage and new books. Exciting for the neighborhood.
