@CryWilliams Interesting thought on this aside from the stupidity of the post - if Lestat takes his agency back and then decides on his own (not for Gabriella) to do the concert, then at the end when he says the fault is all mine for what happens after, that would explain that sentiment.

And now I am enraged because Lestat opposing his mother this way is the opposite of passivity. It’s NOT about the concert! It’s his refusal to let her use his body. You’re just refusing to engage with Lestat’s history of prolonged sexual abuse.

also lestat has been gender nonconforming/nonbinary this entire time. louis has loved him in all his gender fuckery glory for over a century now. confirmation of this changes things for us, the public, but not for the characters. this has been clear for them since always.

The reason Louis could love a transfem Lestat as a gay man is because gender and sexuality are not rigid, they are complicated, they can look "contradictory" on the outside but make perfect sense to the people experiencing them. Also, that's his soulmate.

I still cannot believe that we got this adaptation of TVL, that explores prolonged sexual abuse and how it shapes a person and affects their ability to maintain functional relationships. And yet the story ends with a moment of self acceptance and healing. It’s precious.
