Eminent domain hasn't been used by the Federal government for defense intellectual property rights since the 2nd World War. One of the more interesting payouts for that was giving of USS LCI(L)-648 to a New Orleans rum runner for a floating gambling casino. The rum runner had patented his smoke generator tech, which the USN stole without payment in 1942, and had saved many troop transports from Kamikazes in 1944-1945.

This is a problem easily solved via the Federal government use of constitutional power of "eminent domain" on defense item intellectual property. All it takes is the Executive Branch political will to use that constitutional power.

For 20 years, a $6 knob that takes one hour to 3D print has been grounding Black Hawk helicopters four times a month, and the contractor responsible won't sell us the part or the IP rights to fix it ourselves. So instead, American taxpayers have been paying $40,000 every single time to replace the entire system, multiplied by four times a month, for two decades. That is NOT a procurement problem, that is a shakedown, and it is exactly why right to repair has to be in this year's NDAA.

@SelenaC10705 There were kids living in parking lots a while back at UCSB. Housing has always been extremely expensive because it's one of the few UCs that couldn't expand out. Of course that didn't stop them from building graduate student housing. Undergrads always got shafted.

As a parent of a UC student, I’m shocked that California’s UC system still cannot guarantee on-campus housing for all enrolled students. UC freshmen are paying around $1,700 a month for tiny shared dorms with shared bathrooms, shared showers, no kitchen, and meal plans charged separately. That’s an outrageous cost, especially for families who have paid decades of taxes in California. Then students are pushed into an insane rental market after their first year because UC campuses continue to limit the supply of on-campus housing despite years of growing demand. Students pursuing higher education at UCs should not have to fear homelessness after their first year because they cannot afford to pay ridiculous rents near campus and UCs told them to move out of the dorms. Many students come from far away and have nowhere else to turn but to suffer. This problem has existed for decades. Many UCs were built on farmland with tax dollars, with room to plan for growth, yet decades later students are still being squeezed by a man-made on-campus housing shortage and soaring costs, while developers and investors buy in and profit from student demand. UCs should build enough on-campus housing in a variety of floor plans for all students to choose and use a family income based sliding scale for rent. No UC student pursuing an education should have to worry about whether they can afford a roof over their head while enrolled in school. This should not be the norm we are expected to accept. Just my two cents.

The Gulf States are pissed at Jared…These states funneled 6.16 billion into a Kushner Florida based investment vehicle called Affinity Partners. In return for millions of yearly dollars they were supposed to gain away with the administration. “The Qataris in particular had pressed the Trump administration to steer clear of an all-out war with Iran, Bloomberg reported. Trump went forward anyway, and Kushner's handling of the conflict has become a sore point for officials in Riyadh and Doha.” These investments were supposed to anchor ties to Trump and his family and they got nothing to show from it except their destruction. The Gulf States should sue Jared and Trump and outline the corruption involved to get their money back and then some. I know they got the dirt on Jared.
