🌵❤️ I see inspiring exhibitions around the world, but rarely find time to share with others. So today, I'm posting photos of the incredible Maurizio Cattelan survey we saw last summer at the Serralves Museum in Porto. Each room in this gorgeous mansion on their campus was devoted to a singular work by Cattelan. Many of you here know Cattelan’s Comedian (aka The Banana). ✨Beyond this iconic/memetic work, Cattlelan reveals himself throughout his oeuvre to be the quintessential conceptual trickster, political commentator, and above all a highly gifted ruminator on the role of Powers and the Sacred. From death to politics to the Pope. ✨His works are chillingly, even painfully beautiful. I was especially blown away by his recreation of  Sistine Chapel, which I must say, I enjoy more than the original because one can actually get up close and examine the magnificence of each painting. I hope you enjoy!

Thank you @batsoupyum, for supporting this initiative at @LACMA from inception, acquiring every work in the Rembrance of Things Future series. Thank you as well to @redbeardnft, whose immense passion to steer this project to glorious completion has been pivotal.❤️🌵

ANNOUNCEMENT: Remembrance of Things Future by @yatreda has been fully acquired by collectors @WAPSHOP_ETH and @batsoupyum. The series of artworks, a 16-minute film and triptych set, was conceived in collaboration with @LACMA and @CactoidLabs. They include full resolution NFTS and archivally printed framed photographs. AP acquires Revelation of the Empress for 13 ETH. BatSoupYum acquires the triptych of Path of the Demera, Unearthing the Relic, and Guiding Light for 12 ETH. "When we created this artwork, we had to believe it would all come together in a single shot. We had to believe this story would one day find its rightful homes and be appreciated as intended," begins Yatreda. "Now, it will be stewarded by LACMA, a museum we deeply respect, and with two remarkable collectors that our space deeply respects, AP and BatSoupYum. What a beautiful vision." @LadyCactoid adds commentary on the cross-centuries connection: "Yatreda's stunning films and motion portraits transform a historic Ethiopian thirteenth century bronze cross in LACMA's collection from a static museum object into a living visual narrative, reaffirming how legends endure through modern artisans."

Belief becomes form.

We built a five-meter demera using traditional techniques. Wood, incense, fire and wind. The rest was outside our control. The moment would unfold however it happened, with our muse Lydia embodying the spirit of Empress Eleni (Saint Helena). Hidden stones marked Lydia’s path... Each movement was practiced in daylight, but during filming there would be no second take. Behind the camera, a big team stood ready with a water truck, buckets, and branches ready to protect the ground. Filming took place during a wet interlude, when the ground was already a little bit damp.

Building your own 15ft tall pyre and lighting it on fire just to get the shot in one take is a different kind of metal.
