i am on the 20th page now memecoins are put in the basket of „digital collectibles” in general, the „supply and demand” argument is the most critical phrase of this SEC release so far and thereby launders pure speculation assets into the same category as art collection they are saying nobody is formally in charge of making these memecoins valuable aka it doesn’t matter that 99% of participants are treating them as pumpamentals the vague case of absence of a manager in the howey test sense becomes the absence of regulatory responsibility here aka no one is accountable, it’s on people who are buying it (supply and demand), even if the issuer holds a significant amount of supply via the treasury (the issuer actually controlling it) and the distribution to the team allocation and the „supply and demand” framing arguably creates a universal escape hatch that could theoretically exempt many assets from oversight

@CryptoCappex Like I said, I couldn't care less about your marketing framing. I post wherever I see fit. You can't stop me from posting. I'll keep exposing unfit designs and insecurity in Polkadot.

On the Polkadot Hub side, another team independently discovered the same issue in PolkaVM. The root cause is the same: github.com/paritytech/pol… I think we can now say it conclusively -- PVM is actually slower than EVM for real-world workloads. They did too much testing on DOOM, pinky, and things like that, probably because they don't understand what real-world blockchain workloads look like. Or they were trying to do selective benchmarking so that they can claim that PolkaVM is the fastest, and they gradually deceived themselves. What can they do? On the JAM side, because things are not set in stone yet, they still have a chance to fix it. In fact, we'll address this particular problem in an upcoming change in JAR 0.8.0. On Polkadot Hub side, they aren't that lucky. Deployed contracts are immutable. With things already in production, Polkadot Hub will unfortunately be slow forever.
Wei Tang@sorpaas

The design tradeoff of PolkaVM is really bad. They made memory access slightly faster but then hostcall really really slow. This is the same mistake they made in Polkadot Hub / Revive. Stop testing DOOM and start caring about real world blockchain applications.

@sorpaas You still don't get it... if you really want to resolve what you think needs to be resolved, you should use the proper channels, which a former Parity employee should know about. Using X is completely pointless (trolls, fudders, alt accounts). Good life. 🖖

I'm sorry but I'm immune to personal attacks like this. You won't be able to drag me down to your level. You can't stop me from posting. And you can't change facts. If PVM is slow, then it is slow. Besides, a dozen researchers who have seen your post will be discouraged now to ever post any issues about Polkadot, even if they know about them. Congratulations! You have just made Polkadot much less secure.

Most people don’t need an infra hobby, they need a working assistant. That’s why hosted wins and why @openclawdi is interesting: it turns OpenClaw into something you actually use, not just configure. 👇

tiny irony. 🦞 the humans who need OpenClaw the most: 25 tabs on managing 5 projects 147 unread emails also the humans with no time to wrestle with the setup. clawdi is OpenClaw underneath. 🦞 same power. less wrestling with the infra (unless you're into that 😂) ↓

@sorpaas How do you think your ethics are somehow influential now that you're no longer a Parity employee? Do you think farming engagements here on X can help anyone or anything? Good luck with your career.

@CryptoCappex As an engineer I have my ethics to uphold. If PVM is slow, then I can only say it is slow. I couldn't care less about your "marketing framing". I don't submit to anyone's BS. And fortunately you have no say in how I communicate things. Good luck with your investment.

Cause you can't change facts. PVM is actually slower than EVM. This is a fact. I can't say PVM is good when it's actually this bad.

@CryptoCappex Yes. After I pointed it out, they fired me shortly afterwards for "operational reasons". x.com/sorpaas/status… But anyway, that was already a long time ago when Polkadot's future wasn't this grim.
Wei Tang@sorpaas

@EvanWaddicor Just for the record in case this is asked again. The arrogance inside Parity is probably the single most important factor why Polkadot is at where it is today.

Want to know what's going on on Polkadot? Long-term trust has been steadily growing for 7 months, new users or holders are increasing $DOT staking, and unbonding levels are very low, even after rewards have halved. 👀

@sorpaas @Polkadot Why do you appear so active and opposed to every direction and choice made by Polkadot in every area (technical, marketing, etc.) only now? Where was your critical aspect before?

Some of you asked me how I think about the recent rogue @Polkadot post. I'm more concerned about the hard cap design itself, than any secondary marketing effect. Remember, Jay was the author and proposer of the currently anticipated inflation reduction that is going to production on March 14th. He clearly doesn't believe it anymore. This doesn't make the design wrong, but this does mean that it's more than necessary that the design is at least independently checked. So here's the real question: is the planned inflation reduction design on #Polkadot backed by a sound theory? As far as I'm aware, no one answered the hard question, about what to do about the reduced security for the network, about the exodus of stakers when the reward drops, and about actual past precedent of other blockchains doing the exact same thing and didn't work. All I heard was, hard cap would be good marketing. Now the creator of hard cap broke the marketing. If Polkadot doesn't actually have a sound theory, they'll realize soon that they are swimming naked.
