📅 On this day in 2009, the Bitcoin Genesis Block was mined. The very first block of the Bitcoin blockchain. Embedded in it was a newspaper headline referencing bank bailouts, a subtle nod to the financial system Bitcoin was designed to rethink. It wasn’t just a block. This first entry established the principles that still define Bitcoin today: transparency, verifiability, and a fixed supply. Looking back, the Genesis Block is more than history, it’s a reminder of why blockchain technology was created and why it continues to matter.
