یہ نام کسی کتاب سے نہیں بلکہ طاقت رفتار اور خوف کی علامت ہے
جب یہ شاہین فضا میں اڑتا ہے تو بالکل سانپ کی طرح تیزی سے وار کرتا ہےخاموش مہلک اور ناقابلِ گرفت!
اسی لیئے پائلٹس نے اسے اس کے اصل نام سے زیادہ “Viper” کہنا پسند کیا
دلچسپ بات یہ ہے کہ یہ نام مشہور شو Battlestar Galactica
سے بھی متاثر ہے جہاں ایسے ہی تیز رفتار فائٹرز کو “Viper” کہا جاتا تھا رفتار ایسی کہ دشمن کو سنبھلنے کا موقع نہ ملے چال ایسی کہ ریڈار بھی دھوکہ کھا جائے
طاقت ایسی کہ ایک وار فیصلہ کن ہو جائے
یہی وجہ ہے کہ آج بھی دنیا کے بہترین فائٹر جیٹس میں شامل ایف-16 کو فخر سے “Viper” کہا جاتا ہے
