It was definitely intentional by Mota. The previous spring training he hit Piazza and then Piazza grabbed him by the neck after Mota left the game. This was the first time they faced each other since then.
The first pitch Mota threw at Piazza was very inside and almost hit him and then he did hit him with this one.
I think the story goes Piazza actually after being thrown out went to the Dodgers clubhouse looking for Mota.
Mike Piazza needed 4 grown ass professional athletes to stop him.

Mike Francesa tells us that Zuby Ejiofor transferred from Kansas to St. John's because he didn't want to sit behind Joel Embiid any longer. Embiid's last game with Kansas was in March, 2014 when Zuby was nine years old. Not to mention that Embiid only spent one year in college.
