We were here long before modern Greeks existed and centuries before Turks arrived in the Balkans. You are both arguing over lands that Albanians historically defended and ruled. One head for watching the Turks, one for the Greeks. Simple

If that's the case, I can present you with a much more realistic picture that fits the historical context. We have a habit of breaking the hands that reach out to our lands. Since you are also a product of an expansionist mentality, you will suffer the consequences of your arrogance 🤷‍♂️

There is nothing of Turkish origin in Turkey. It's all #Hellenic #Greek. The Turkish tribe came from afar, from the Altai Mountains as conquerors of a foreign civilization that had already been active in the present-day lands of Turkey for many centuries. And yes, 90% of museums worldwide are filled with Greek artifacts, marbles, sculptures etc. And yes, there are stolen Greek artifacts abroad.

Turkey is making an increasingly assertive push to recover antiquities illegally taken abroad -- a campaign supported by a newly-developed AI tool for identifying cultural assets of Turkish origin. u.afp.com/SLzo

@AFP You say you’ll use AI to identify “your” antiquities abroad. Tell me does your AI understand Greek? Because most of the ancient artifacts found in what is now Turkey happen to be Greek. I’m curious how you plan to explain that to your algorithm.

Major notes from the weekend on Iran: 1) Combined Force strikes started hitting IRGC Ground Forces units in the Kurdish regions. 2) We have confirmed that IRGC members are at least two cycles behind on pay. 3) *Coincidentally,* I'm sure, the IRGC Ground Forces Commander went on a tour visiting these forces. In combination, these three notes indicate a high risk of desertion throughout the IRGC. 4) Separately, we have the attack on Diego Garcia that, frankly, justifies the war in and of itself. The base itself isn't terribly significant, its not that "Iran can get Diego Garcia! We have to go to war!" The issue is that Iran constantly lies about everything to do with its nuclear program. Taqiyya. They've issued fatwas against nuclear weapons, then simultaneously enrich uranium to levels only usable in weapons while developing long-range ballistic missiles. "Its for medical purposes!" No, it wasn't, and it couldn't be. Uranium enriched to this degree has no medical uses. "Its for self-defense!" Then why were you hiding a long range ballistic missile capable of delivering a nuclear weapon to London? The fact they were developing these weapons while consistently lying about it, in the face of all the world being united against their acquisition of the weapons, combined with all of their past acts of terrorism and piracy, absolutely justifies this war. 5) On Negotiations: These are being played very close to the chest, but here's what I've been able to gather... Witkoff and Kushner are keeping lines of communication open with non-IRGC elements of the Iranian State—if I had to guess, I'd expect officials within the Republican Government. If not Pezeshkian himself, then probably people with access to him. It seems abundantly clear that the situation in Iran is at this point A Tale of Two Cities. One is an IRGC-Cleric alliance propping up the corpse of the Velayat-e Faqih. The other is the Republican-Reform alliance propping up the still in-tact organs of state outside of the IRGC's control. We are almost certainly negotiating with one of these 'cities,' and not the other. This is what I expected would be the prelude to final resolution. The existing power structures in Iran will continue to pull support away from, and rallying support against, the IRGC. At this point, it appears the plan is to reach a pre-negotiated settlement with the Republican-Reform Government while hammering the IRGC on all available fronts and enabling a fairly smooth transition of power. Mass uprising is probably now the backup plan, with total dismantling of Iran's infrastructure the backup to the backup plan.

@bvrakvs i've noticed that Turks and others are often confused by the several terms the Greeks identify themselves. Greeks call ourselves Hellenes. The terms Romioi and Graikoi are synonyms, denoting the same group of people and understood by Greeks to be the same.

I love this charming little personal anecdote from the historian Peter Charanis. In 1912, when he was just four years old, Greek troops landed on the island of Lemnos (his birthplace) during the First Balkan War. Peter and his friends ran to see the soldiers, whom the locals called "Hellenes". One of the soldiers noticed the group of curious children staring and asked, "What are you looking at?" A child answered, "At Hellenes" The soldier smiled and said, "Aren’t you Hellenes yourselves?" Without missing a beat, the child replied: "No, we are Romans!" (Rhomaioi)

@Axrny1LhEn8158 @bvrakvs The claim that the Ottomans used the word “Turk” as an insult is a complete lie. Even the Ottoman sultans traced their lineage back to Oghuz Khan, the legendary ancestor of the Oghuz Turks.

@bvrakvs Mongo, and the Seljuks and the Ottomans never called themselves "Turks" (actually the Ottomans considered the name "turks" an insult, attributed to donkeys), but you said that are part of your history. So do not be stuck with the names...

@QrTHs6ugFLHPtvq @bvrakvs What are you talking about? If you had told a Roman that he was a Hellene, they would probably have beaten you up, thinking you were insulting them. Even among the small number of Greek-speaking minorities remaining in Istanbul today, most do not wish to be referred to as Greek

In some regions of the Greek-staking world during that era the name Hellenes was denoting only the Greeks of the Hellenic state. The rest were using a variety of names yet the fact that they called themselves Romans doesn’t mean that they were unaware of their greekness since the name Roman was encompassing the entire Greek identity from Ancient Greece onwards to our times.

@ShumBaloo @bvrakvs They were called "Romans' by all other countries during east Roman state times, and they were still called "Romans' by the Ottoman administration. This was an old popular naming that was used even till early 20th century, but nowadays has a more cultural meaning.

@ShumBaloo @bvrakvs The difference is that Bonn served as the capital of West Germany for a much shorter period, whereas Berlin was never officially under the rule of another nation. Nevertheless, I believe the scenario you described will come to pass. Athens pales in comparison to Constantinople.

I remember when Germany reunified, the idea was oh the capital will stay in Bonn not move the new Germany break with the past But a swell of emotion created an irresistible impetus and it moved to Berlin It would have been the same with Greece we have a modern capital in Athens ! The new Greece! But emotional passion, the Romios sentiment, would swept that away and it would be Constantinople

@cashprinter25 @MedSimoL @0xcoked @Pataramesh Iran cannot win a war of attrition. It lacks the necessary resources to do so. If it refuses to agree to a deal, it will continue to be bombed and suffer for months to come.

@MedSimoL @0xcoked @Pataramesh Then it will be a war of attrition, an expensive war that has potential to collapse the global economy. By the way, the US is done with Mideast hegemony. The GCC states would not wlecome them rebuilding knowing now that the US offered them no protection.

Typical tiring games of Trump - Manipulating the markets - Manipulating the Persian Gulf Arabs that a off-ramp is in sight (it may just require some commitment 💰) ➡️ 🇮🇷 agreeing to such agreement without massive advantages would certainly mean it lost the war ➡️ Won't happen

@Resist223 @IamZeev @Pataramesh Israel will never run out of interceptors. If necessary, the U.S. will use its entire stockpile to protect Israel. Even if supplies begin to run low, they will be used to protect critical military facilities. Meanwhile, Iran’s missile stockpile will continue to dwindle.

You must not have telegram because if u did u would see the missile warning almost every hour. For example just yesterday alone iran sent 30 missiles, Israelis have to run and hide every 60 mins. Iran has basically destoryed all THAAD radars and battries in GCC and now iran is depleting israeli interceptors, a week from now israeli skys will be totaly naked and iran can bring out the heavy toys. People like u have no idea about war of attrition, ypu would of used all your best missiles on first week hundreds a day then your fuked if the fight last 6 month. Iran is expecting this fight to last until midterms.

Seriously. Greeks were occupied on their own land for 400 years, 2nd class citizens, paying the "jizya" tax to their Muslim overlords who frequently stole their children to force convert and turn into soldiers (janissary troops) or brides. This only ended when the Greeks fought like hell to expel them starting in 1821. This should be the first thing they teach in school these days, it even deals with indigenous people fighting off an occupying force. So why isn't this one of the models?
