Craig Counsell announced today that Seiya Suzuki will not be ready for Opening Day, and they have until Wednesday to make an IL decision.

Seiya Suzuki, who’s dealing with a right knee injury, will not be ready for Opening Day, Cubs manager Craig Counsell said. The club has not yet decided whether Suzuki will start the season on the injured list, but it appears to be trending in that direction.

He's under observation and treatment and they will determine on Saturday if an IL stint will be necessary (and how long). He is still doing some baseball activities such as throwing. No batting till Sat.
