@JesseBurkhart7 We definitely have our share of problems. Michigan Ave does seem to be making a comeback. I’d like to see that office space re-zoned to residential, which has been talked about but not done. Office space isn’t coming back. We do have issues here and I’d like to see it even better

Look, I love Chicago. Undoubtedly, one of America's most beautiful cities, if not, the most beautiful. I don't want to see it fail just so my team has a talking point. But let's not pretend that it doesn't have serious problems. Office vacancies are at an all time high, and it is facing a shrinking commercial tax base due to lower commercial real estate values, due to over taxation and safety concerns, (admittedly still partially fueled by remote work as well, and the city is getting safer overall) and a very slowly growing economy, which is going to exacerbate the debt spiral. Posts like this, don't help the city at all. These problems need to be highlighted by all sides, because these are serious problems, and the bill will come due

@JamesBooth9517 Yeah man I can’t afford a $1.3 million condo in this economy. The people that can aren’t moving into 40 year old buildings. My building in river north (as well as the surrounding areas) is not getting cheaper or less empty, that’s for sure

@WestLoopTom The thing about $2.13 an hour is employers won’t cut as quickly because you’re free labor. $10 makes them cut quicker, be smarter about scheduing/hours of operation so you’re not standing around making nothing

@WestLoopTom I personally don’t think we should make $16 plus tips. It’s too high and it’s impossible to operate a restaurant where profit margins are slim. A lot of states are $2 which is insane, I think $10-$12 is where it should be for chicago

@BrucePerdu It’s a “wheat wine style ale” which my Miller Lite pallet was not accustomed to. There is a lot going on and it’s 10.6%. I couldn’t drink 2. It’s like a DIPA but has some malty and sweet. Kinda like a cross between and Octoberfest and a double IPA?
