@AtticusDraco Yeah...was DFA'd by the Cubs, picked up by the Jays, who then DFA'd him, and he yo-yo'd back to the Cubs. I thought he'd be first in line on the chopping block, but I guess the Cubs decided they needed infield depth more than relief pitching.

Ben Cowles escaped being DFA'd again by the #Cubs, but the guy he was traded with, Jack Neely, wasn't so lucky.

@Cubsin7Blog @jacobzanolla That type of injury with nerve irritation just seems like it would be more long term and an easy 60 day IL. There's also been no news on him since the initial report. I think they try to avoid Steele to the 60 day since it seems like the goal is for him to be back sooner

Michael Conforto, Dylan Carlson, and Scott Kingery were all non-roster invitees this year. It appears as if all three of them have made the Opening Day roster. Never overlook those NRI deals that often go under the radar. Last year, it was Brad Keller. This year? We shall see
jon greenberg@jon_greenberg

Talking to Craig Counsell, he said Dylan Carlson made the team and Scott Kingery “will be on the plane,” which means most likely he’s on OD roster. Seiya Suzuki will travel to Chicago as well as they determine his timeline.

@AtticusDraco The Brewers magic (as well as playing good baseball) is an undeniable force. As I put in the post, I can't predict that they won't win the NL Central until it actually happens.

The last roster spot is a bit of a mystery for the #Cubs. Alcantara going to the minors makes Carlson a lock. Right now it seems like Kingery or a new addition. The tricky part is that someone will need to be cut when Suzuki comes back. Plus, 3 40-man spots need to open.

Interesting article about #ABS. I agree that 2 challenges seems low. Perhaps give teams an extra challenge in the 9th, just to prevent an egregious umpire miss in a critical late game situation. But we won't see any adjustments until 2027, at the earliest.

A final, ABS preview story: Spoke to executives from 19 teams heading into Opening Day, about what they learned and how they'll deploy it. Also, who had the best overturn rates on offense and defense and will those be the leaders in the reg season? Story: espn.com/mlb/story/_/id…

With the season about to start, a plethora of roster moves will be coming across MLB, including for the #Cubs. Who will go on the 60-day IL? And who might be waived to make room for non-roster players to make the team or get picked up? cubsin7.blog/2026/03/22/get…

@PJ_Mooney Some of these final #Cubs roster decisions with partially be based on contract situations. I'm guessing Conforto would have had to be released if he did not make the opening roster. I still think Carlson also makes it.
