@JimmyTraina I don’t understand why they can’t let the guest stay another half inning when it’s a short inning like that.

The interview Matt Vasgersian, CC Sabathia and Hunter Pence did with Rob Manfred was one of the most embarrassing things I’ve ever seen on sports television.

First pitch for MLB’s opening night game on Netflix was scheduled for 8:05 PM. Actual first pitch happened at 8:25 PM.

@TVSportsUpdates They never said they were getting rid of the K box. They said it will no longer indicate whether the pitch was a ball or a strike. The circle would be fully white if the TV K box was a strike.

Advertising a 7pm first pitch and starting at 7:25 isn't great. Get the opening day stuff done by 7:05.

I don’t mind all the #OpeningDay festivities but why can’t all this start before the advertised first pitch. The Cubs will have all this done by 1:20 tomorrow.

@MadisonMessiah @Dan_5DotOh actually. I signed up for HBO Max for one month to watch the NCAA March Madness. It’s $18.99 for the one month. I’ll cancel once tournament is over cause I don’t need HBO Max. No big deal. People love streaming but then complain when stuff is exclusively on streaming

Only thing I WANT them to do is stop being so dramatic about problem that isn't a problem. It's the way the world works. Netflix and MLB announced this game months ago, they are clearly a fan of the Giants, they have had time to figure out how to make this "less hard" on themselves. People are so fucking performative about everything. It's nauseating.

But also, screw MLB for having such a big game on Netflix only. Want more fans? Stop making it so hard to watch games!

@ryantadych @Cubs @WatchMarquee @NuveenInv Who am I missing? 26 man+ Pitchers: Assad, Roberts, Hollowell, little, Martin, and rolison Position players: Alcantara, Dean, triantos, Ramirez, and cowles That’s actually 3 holes. Is that Chas, Bethancourt, and long?

@HotStoveCubbies Love the deal. It could be really affordable for Cubs in later years. The lack of option years is interesting cause contracts like these usually always include those.

Deal starting in 2027 is key. I would have liked a 8+ year deal or adding club options but the Cubs get him in his prime years. Not trying to nitpick at all. PCA is a freaking Cub for a long time.
Jeff Passan@JeffPassan

Center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong and the Chicago Cubs are in agreement on a six-year, $115 million contract extension, sources tell ESPN. The deal starts in 2027 and does not include a club option, allowing Crow-Armstrong to hit free agency before his age-31 season.

@blakecowellx I don’t really get it from the teams perspective. Basically guaranteed him $19m/yr through his arb years and got on year of his free agency. Love Pete though so hell yeah

Would have liked to see the years be a little higher if I’m being honest Feels like there’s more risk on the team And it’s not even a bad deal. Just what I prefer

Another rough outing for Edward Cabrera. 2 in a row heading into the year. Think this whole rotation needs to get out of the steamy hot Arizona sun lol

@Cubsin7Blog @jacobzanolla That type of injury with nerve irritation just seems like it would be more long term and an easy 60 day IL. There's also been no news on him since the initial report. I think they try to avoid Steele to the 60 day since it seems like the goal is for him to be back sooner

Michael Conforto, Dylan Carlson, and Scott Kingery were all non-roster invitees this year. It appears as if all three of them have made the Opening Day roster. Never overlook those NRI deals that often go under the radar. Last year, it was Brad Keller. This year? We shall see
jon greenberg@jon_greenberg

Talking to Craig Counsell, he said Dylan Carlson made the team and Scott Kingery “will be on the plane,” which means most likely he’s on OD roster. Seiya Suzuki will travel to Chicago as well as they determine his timeline.

@jacobzanolla Assuming Austin goes on the 60-day IL, what do you think will be the moves for those other 2 40-man spots. Steele to 60-day IL and one player waived or will two get waived? I'd guess Cowles is likely to go back on the waiver wire, and Dean or Rolison if they need one more spot.

@jacobzanolla I’m cautiously optimistic about Conforto. Even if he returns to his 23/24 self as a Giant, that would be a huge addition to the bench.

Michael Conforto was a home run away from the cycle today. He logged 3 hits, 4 RBIs, and scored twice. With Seiya Suzuki starting the year on the IL, Conforto could play a big role outfield wise to get the season started.

@cody__cubs The Cubs have 2 open bench spots regardless of whether Suzuki starts the season on IL. So the one decision has no bearing on the other. Austin’s injury opened the second bench spot. Conflict was likely getting one of those spots regardless

@SamOlbur In my opinion, ST results matter for borderline players that are trying to make the roster. Not near as much for guys who we knew would be on the team before our first playoff game
