A long-overdue announcement: The codebase for (most of) my event-organizing tools is now on a public github repo. This includes the player schedule optimizer and the bracket pdf creator github.com/margotphoenix/… Feel free to check it out. I'm open to collaboration as well.

@HijoDeWrestling Wrestlers in the heel stable (H.A.T.E./Oedo Tai) have never participated in this ceremony, so likely that reasoning extends to Julia as well

Just because my fight isn't over, though, doesn't mean hope is lost or that I've found myself in some unshakable darkness. I am surrounded by love and I am filled with determination to keep living as fully (and long!) as I'm able. I still have contributions to make to the world.

I've been a bit quiet about the results of my post-surgery scan, and it's partially because I wanted to take time to process some unfortunate news. I'll make this a thread so you can choose to spare yourself some sadness on your feed if you'd like. I'm still hopeful and happy!

Discharged out of the hospital wearing the only appropriate shirt to wear on this blessed weekend. Miss everyone at @COMBOBREAKER. ♥️ Now, I go back to my parents' house to recover from the most alien surgery of my life before we find out whether I am cancer-free.

After 1,698 days of waiting to get it back, we finished the race. Thank you for never giving up on me and always believing, one more time.

This situation would have happened even if the pools were 4-advance out Rivals pools were already 16 players per (2 pools with 15), we never do 4-out at that size This situation happened due to the large number of no-shows. It's not because of double-elim

@PeterPikmon g) I honestly just wanted the post the pool pic bc I look hot, and I thought "hoes mad" was a funny caption for it. In retrospect I should've posted it separately. I apologize for implying that you and your friends are "hoes" and that you were "mad"

@PeterPikmon f) If 222 of the DQs hadn't signed up, bringing RoA2 down to 800 entrants and a more normal 14% DQ rate, pools would've had 25 players per and been 6-out and we wouldn't be having this convo. The entrant numbers dictated pool size

An indy company punched *up* at the corporation fn with their shows. Yah, some nice folks are at the center of it, but they made decisions that you could say weren't nice. Im happy to see public pushback. Did yall forget who wwe is and what they do?

@CheesiestPotato I think any format would be sensitive to a 33% DQ rate except for maybe swiss, which does not function well at scale for fighting game tournaments

writing a detailed blog post about this, which will be out soon. we should at least try to improve on the standards that were set decades ago! some solvable problems: - double jeopardy pools - very sensitive to DQs - brackets are highly dependent on seeding, an opaque process

@PeterPikmon This situation was extremely unfortunate, but it is not something that we on staff could reasonably account for given the limitations of schedule and available resources.

@PeterPikmon The scenario in the screenshots that *you posted* happened because 6 people no-showed and those 6 were unfortunately placed in those sections of the bracket. And again, 4-out would not solve that scenario. The best solve was holding a bracket where more players showed.

@PeterPikmon Losing twice to the same person is something that will happen at tournaments. It is not possible to completely avoid it without sacrificing logistics in other areas. We mitigate it as best as we feel is necessary and possible, and we aim to be consistent across games.

@CurlingW I respect that logistical reasons result in this bracket format. It's still a legitimate complaint to not want to lose to just one person at a 1k person tournament
