As I grow and become more aware of my own mental health and well being I realize how much more important mental toughness is than physical toughness. I was a 🔥😡😡 HOTHEAD when I played and I would write it off as being competitive or wanting to win, but in truth it was a lack of control and emotional maturity. In this game my Senior year of college I fouled out 2:15 into the 2nd half because I disagreed with back to back calls made against me and I was called for a tech which made foul number 5. This was a selfish self-servicing act that could have costed my team the game. I allowed my own emotions to take control of the moment and not my mind. I am really only just beginning my mental health journey, but what I have learned in just a short time had I known these things years ago I can only imagine how much more positive of an impact I could have had on the people I was blessed to come across. “If you’re sharing your success and not your struggles then you’re a fool.”
