Beijing comprises 16 districts - some urban, some rural - & each district is itself further subdivided into subdistricts. & for some daft reason, I've decided I want to visit each of these subdistricts. It won't happen. It's stupid. But there's (probably) no harm in trying🧵

If I had to pick 3 trends from #CAAPA, it'd be: 1) Massive, hyperrealistic dinosaur animatronics. There was tons, & very good quality too. I suppose they have to be when they're being displayed in the city that houses the greatest dark ride there is - Jurassic World Adventure!

She was trustworthy though. A bit mad. Would work doublespeed so he could then have double the smoke break length ergo double the number of cigs. Never mentioned once to my Da when he'd pick me up that I'd smoke with her. A trustworthy skinny chef.

I used to work in a kitchen that had a sign saying 'never trust a skinny chef'. But the chef was fairly skinny. Skinnier than the average person I'd say. Mixed messages.

When I was in my 20s I wished to deepen my understanding of the Israel-Palestine situation. So I purchased at least a dozen books - mostly semi-obscure, academic, many by dissenting Israeli historians. A day came when I closed a book halfway through, resolved to read no further, even to try to forget all I had learned, and then I donated all the books. It was clear, painfully and miserably clear, that I would be wasting my life trying to understand it more when it was nothing more than this.

On Israeli national television: “Everyone in Gaza must die. They should all be left to starve to death, even children. I don’t care”

I'll be back on Saturday morning, but for now enjoy me riding my first Chicken Coop-esque (an ever-present outside malls in China that's usually reserved for children. If it's at an expo, is it still a credit? Is it on coaster-count? Many questions

I was surprised by lack of a) mentions of AI: I will not mourn the end of the 'shoehorn it in' era if it has passed & b) humanoid robots. They were there, via ubiquitous Unitree & OCT (who made no mention of their theme parks for some reason) But by 🇨🇳 expo standards, very few

Taking a 3 hr 20 min bullet train from Guangzhou to Nanning to check out another theme park near the Vietnam border. 🎢 This is one of the older bullet trains. We paid $65 per person to sit in a much more spacious cabin. Regular cabin is $45 🚅🇨🇳

As I said here, Zack Polanski should be utterly ashamed. He has allowed toxic antisemitism to tear through his party unchallenged, and this is the latest dangerous example of that. Greens to vote on challenging NHS anti-Semitism crackdown telegraph.co.uk/politics/2026/…

2021: I found out my uncle and aunt were divorced. They hadn’t told the family. 2022–2024: They kept showing up to family events together like nothing had changed. 2024: My grandpa passed away. 2026: My uncle finally admitted they’d been divorced all along and only hid it so it wouldn’t upset my grandpa. Ironically, my grandpa was the one who told me back in 2021.

In 1999 Ed Harris and Amy Madigan refused to applaud the honorary Oscar to Elia Kazan. Elia Kazan had testified before the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC) in 1952 during the Hollywood blacklist era and named several colleagues as Communists. Those actors and writers were then blacklisted and lost their careers. Now Amy Madigan has won Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role in "WEAPONS".
