wrote a very long thread and then deleted it, but instead will post a part of it: i went to nanjiecun today. it's the "first lei feng village in china" , a 4A tourist site, the last commune in the country, and around a 45 minute drive outside of the city luohe.

@HistorianZhang I know the broader point is that you shouldn't have to do this & it's annoying, but is it not worth just going & getting a local SIM? Always one of the first things I do when someone is visiting because without one, things can be a pain
