Since we’re on the topic of plane seat assignments, I’ll share a story re: something I wouldn’t normally share that happened recently on a plane. I was looking for my aisle seat and saw that a gentleman in the middle seat was taking up his seat and half of mine. Instead of setting down my stuff I walked to the back of the plane and very quietly explained the situation to the flight attendants. They were incredibly kind. They radioed an agent who came on the plane saw the situation and found a new seat for me in the emergency exit row. Thankfully the flight was not full. My goal was that I didn’t want to embarrass the man — and I wanted to get a seat that I paid for. Both were accomplished. It’s not a perfect solution but I didn’t know airlines had agents who helped mitigate issues like this — good to keep in mind if you have a seat issue.
