Mark Twain wrote “King Leopold’s Soliloquy” about the Belgian genocide in Congo and despite being most famous author on Earth no one would publish it, because he was talking about black lives. What a disgrace to honor a racist jerkoff in his name

Turtle's big bro here, We need to hit the goal by 3/31. She is being kicked out of her facility, so If we don't secure funds she'll be in a med shelter that is not equipped to care for her and likely will die from seizures or mental health. Please Donate. givebutter.com/iG0zWz

@algae_fish I myself am partial to μ-opioid agonists, but I'm sure a good physical therapist would be more sustainable.
Avoid chiropractors at all costs though.
English

@stonewrapper I definitely need to study the chemistry of sodium silicate in lead acid cells now, that sounds fucking awesome.
English

@Cyaphide great for preserving eggs, sealing concrete, and many other things. Can be used to replace sulfuric acid in lead acid batteries.
English

@catboydemon Well, you can afford the ticket now at least!

@stonewrapper Damn, nice! Yeah I just remember that that's how they destroyed cars in the cash for clunkers program, it's real nasty stuff if you're a machine.
English

@Cyaphide hadn't thought about sodium silicate, although I am very familiar with some other uses of it. Brought out a 5 gallon bucket of it for making and rebuilding batteries.
English

@2aQueer Yeah I've learned this from a few replies. It sounds like a pain with very limited returns tbh.
English

@Cyaphide Don't actually spike a tree, because it's illegal, but in Ecodefense: A Field Guide to Monkeywrenching, they say to make the hole bigger than the ceramic, and use a glue-like substance so it stays put, and cover with wood or bark so it isn't visible.
English

@stonewrapper Yes of course.
Though sodium silicate in the oil pan under cover of night would likely suffice in most of those cases.
Doesn't fix the CEO problem though, obviously.
English

@Cyaphide the most effective tactic is taking out the expensive machinery that cuts the tree in the first place, before the tree is killed. THAT might likely involve hurting people, which obviously I have no problem with.
English

@stonewrapper Well, in places like the amazon where indigenous tribes are being executed by loggers...bodily injury wouldn't exactly be an unwelcome side effect.
In the states though, people can be a bit more squeamish (and this is used against them by propagandists).
English

@Cyaphide no worries. Eventually they would switch 2 other technologies that could detect ceramics, such as the radioactive meters used commonly in the construction sector. The idea is not 2 necessarily cause bodily injury, but 2 make destruction of forests unprofitable.
English

@Cyaphide absolutely. No zinc, either. That is why I suggested simple rr spikes, coated with plastic. A wood colorant can always be added in before the spike.
English

@stonewrapper Fair enough, but ceramic pellets blasted into the tree would be even harder to remove due to size and undetectability (until catastrophic failure of machinery).
I don't have a problem with traditional spiking btw, I just want to make that clear lol.
English

@Cyaphide you miss the point. Yes hammers can remove some, but most nails would have to come out using much more intensive labor methods, and would waste a lot of the wood. The rich bastards running the factories can't afford that. And knowing that EVERY tree was now completely wasted...😁
English

@stonewrapper The uncoated spikes discolor the wood, which kills its lumber value.
Careful choice of alloy would be good for ensuring tree health though. Copper in the iron would be...terrible.
English

@Cyaphide actually, we shouldn't even bother worrying about the metal detectors...removing the stuff they catch takes mire time and cost more money. We WANT them to find thousands of plastic-coated rr spikes in every tree!
English

@stonewrapper I would think that small ceramic pellets would be adequate for that, which is what I'm personally hoping to explore.
Using metal just means they can detect the implanted nails and remove them with a few hammers though. Ceramic would fragment, then work its way into machinery.
English

@stonewrapper It's not so much about worker safety as it is about adapting the technique so that people who aren't willing to potentially kill someone can still employ it.
English

@Cyaphide nah. Fuck those workers. This is a fight for the survival of the entire planet, and they know what they are doing. No excuses for raping our Mother!
