I can credibly argue that "security is security." I can also argue that security fundamentals universally apply across security disciplines. However, specialization has benefits and in my opinion is how to do security well. Where this goes wrong is when specialists see themselves in isolation. I genuinely believe a lot of people in cybersecurity don't want to even think about how they're interconnected to all other security disciplines and problems. One reason may be their personal politics and ideologies. They don't want to recognize they're a piece of the greater machine.

Is anyone using application control (AppLocker or WDAC) on Active Directory domain controllers? (In production?)😂 @techspence and @CyberCakeX, do you know of any pre-built rulesets for DCs?

@MihaPecnik @SamErde Good point, that's true! 😅 OS security (Windows/Mac/Linux) is fundamentally designed for non-admins/roots. Though when it comes to App Control/WDAC, we can at least sign it to prevent admin level tampering (with the help of Secure Boot).

@N805DN @SamErde @techspence @CyberCakeX What exactly are you solving with AppLocker on DCs, since anyone that logs in has admin and AppLocker is designed for non-admins?

@SamErde @mrmichaeljstew What are challenges though exactly? I'm sure i can help with anything related. DCs are very much static, don't need too many 3rd party programs installed on them. Default Windows template is perfect for it with very minimal maintenance. It allows everything that is in the OS.

Imagine a world where we had no internet, no phones. We lost our rights to bear arms. Our government started mass killing unarmed protesters. As if that wasn't enough, our government then went door to door searching people's houses for signs of people who protested and sentenced them to death. Then, they started killing people by lethal injection because there were so many in jail, without a trial. In jail, women were raped. Men and women were tortured to sign confessions, then killed, by the 10s of thousands. The government had amassed so many bodies that they set the cold storage facilities ablaze the burn them. Before the people lost internet and phone, they cried out to the world for help, begging for outside assistance. It sounds like a horror movie. This is Iran. Silence is is acceptance.
