Promising accumulations have already been identified in places like Mali and Albania, demonstrating that accessible reservoirs do exist. If extraction technologies can be developed at scale, this naturally occurring hydrogen could provide a nearly carbon-free fuel source, significantly accelerating decarbonization efforts while reducing reliance on both fossil fuels and energy-intensive hydrogen production methods.
