That's a fair point, and I agree that humans aren't deterministic like software. Let me borrow your words 😀. I'd counter argue that the goal of "patching" people isn't to make them immune to a specific exploit. It's to reduce the likelihood and impact of successful attacks

Your point is valid. I’ll counter argue by saying patches stop a particular attack from exploiting a particular vulnerability the same way again. Humans will undergo training and still fall for the same exploit again and again.

over time. Even the patched systems can still be compromised through zero-days, misconfigurations, or incomplete updates. So can trained users still fall for phishing or social engineering. Neither is perfect, but both significantly reduce risk.

Great quote, and I agree that humans can't be patched the way software can. But in cybersecurity, I'd argue that awareness training, phishing simulations, and continuous learning are our version of "patches."
