@kingtisemedia Felt this way in real time, wasn’t a strong era of interior play and didn’t like the way most teams were constructed. Hated the way teams played in 17 and 18, no one had the personal to play like the Warriors but did it anyway (on offense) Better, more balanced rosters today

@JesseGladsaget It’s been obvious to me since they called that 23 Nuggets team legendary and better than any team MJ saw in the 90s (they were mid as fuck) but they’ve been doing this for over a decade. The worse the beatdown the more unstoppable they frame that team

The Klutch media loves talking about how great and “insurmountable” LeBron’s competition was. At a certain point you have to ask yourself why none of the superlatives that are commonly ascribed to his opponents are ever used to describe HIS teams. That’s 1000000% intentional

@JackDorsey36437 @Davidchorts @jroberts1103 @KenHeLive Biggest stage was the real finals vs Spurs or 02 Kings and 00 Blazers, the only truly great team they faced in the finals was the 04 Pistons the rest were 2nd round caliber at best in the West

@olympicbean He was better than Ellis (low calorie 25 ppg and below average defense) but replace him with Brandon Roy (top 10 that year imo) and that’s still 15 guys better

There’s not a soul on earth who believed Pau Gasol was better than these players in 2009 or 2010 (not in order btw) 1. Kobe 2. Bron 3. Wade 4. Dwight 5. Duncan 6. Stoudemire 7. Nowitzki 8. Chris Paul 9. Melo 10. Durant 11. Pierce 12. Garnett 13. Deron Williams 14. Nash 15. Monta Ellis

Show me the ring MJ, Kobe, magic, bird, or any top 10 worthy player won without a top 15 player in the league on his team Only a standard for LeBron Btw, you can argue Kyrie wasn't top 15 as much as any other

@whateverbs99 To add to this Wade was generally elite in the finals and playoffs so when his production did fall off it was easier to attribute it to age/injury Harden has always been like this, it’s simply who he is

@ScottKacsmar BPM and Game Score aren’t good, the BPM calculation literally boosts Jokic’s defensive box score because of his assists. I like football advanced metrics but there’s way less context/nuance applied to advanced bball metrics Carried is still too strong of a word for a superstar

And yet LeBron and Shaq appear 5x in playoff Game Score in a championship run before you see Kobe once. 6x (all 4 LeBron) before a 3-peat Kobe ring appears. Change it to Box Plus-Minus and young Kobe gets dwarfed even worse.

@ScottKacsmar Kobe was never carried. In the play-offs for his first 3 rings with Shaq, he averaged 21.1, 29.4 and 26.6 ppg.

@aryh21 That team was so bad they dismantled the 62-20 Lakers and 56-25 Spurs 8-1. A near +15 net rating against the Lakers Makes what MJ/Bulls did more impressive. It’s much more impressive to make an elite team look bad.

@DimeDropperPod I remember Barkley talking about it, huge difference between scoring 25 and 30. He was an uber efficient 25-28 ppg guy but never hit 30 so he knows better than anyone how much more difficult it gets, it’s a different type of skillset

@chaery_fox @ScottKacsmar Center position fell off with Shaq and Yao declining and fell off harder with Dwight’s decline, I still consider late 00s / early 10s strong for bigs because the PF position was still elite. I think most PFs back then would be centers now

@CyberTV24 @ScottKacsmar Must be said that the decline of bigs started even earlier. From the moment Shaq became washed Dwight Howard was basically the only star center in the league. Joakim Noah and DeAndre Jordan got 1st team all nba.

How much was that just capitalizing on the late 2010s being one of the weakest eras for big men? Notice the Warriors didn't do that well post-2018 once players like Giannis, Jokic, Embiid, Wemby, etc. shaped into MVP form.
Nate Jones@JonesOnTheNBA

Dray is an easy target b/c he talks trash, but anyone that knows hoop knows how much he impacted winning. The ability to play small was b/c of HIS defensive ability and versatility. The ability to capitalize on Steph’s gravity and Kerr’s system was also b/c of his playmaking.
