Behind The Scenes Of A Failed (And Rebuilt) Automation Workflow You know those forms you fill online and immediately you get an email?...then a follow-up the next day…everything just flowing like someone is sitting behind the screen replying you one by one. Yeah… that thing looks so simple...I mean...it looks like: fill form... get response... move on. Let me tell you what actually goes on behind that. A few days ago, I was contacted to build an AI automation workflow for a project. I started early. Around 6am. At first, everything was going well. You know that feeling when you think, “yeah, I’ve got this”? I was flexing after setting up the triggers, connecting steps, writing the emails, testing little by little and fixing small errors here and there. Normal. Hours passed… but I was still locked in. By afternoon, I was already deep into it...adding different paths, conditions, making sure each response goes to the right person at the right time and based on what they applied for. Evening came and I was tired, but almost close to finishing. Or at least, I thought I was close. Then I decided to run one final check… just to be sure everything was clean. That was when I saw a mistake...haew 😭 😞 It's not one of those small errors you can just tweak and move on. No. This one was sitting at the foundation of the whole workflow. Something I got wrong from the beginning. And everything I built on top of it was affected. Imagine working from morning till night, thinking you’re about to finish… only to realize the problem started from step two I knew there wasn't going to be any magic fix to it. The only option is the one nobody likes. Delete. Go back. Start again. Well, I had to strip things back to the last point that made sense… and leave the rest. I shut down my system and laid down to rest a bit before I come back to continue again. People see automation working perfectly and think it’s effortless work. They don’t see the thinking behind it, the trial and error, the multiple tests and the silent frustration when something refuses to behave the way it should. They don’t see you sitting there asking yourself, “why is this not working?” for the 10th time. They don’t see you rebuilding something you already built. You have to think through the entire experience from start to finish. “If someone does this, what should happen next?” “If they don’t respond, what then?” “If something fails, what’s the backup?” It’s like building a system that has to think ahead… even when you’re not there. So yeah, when you see a smooth workflow, just know there’s a lot behind it. A lot of testing. A lot of mistakes. A lot of starting again. My mother did not stress me like this, who goes AI Automation Workflow? 😒
