Cycle Patcham

Posted council information about work due to start soon on the Patcham A23 bus lane. We want the buses to keep well away from anyone cycling.

Work about to start in #Patcham. Some benefits like the proposal to close the slip at the southern end of Old London Road, reduced speed limit and a better crossing on the A23, but this is a bus prioritisation scheme, rather than an active travel scheme. one.network

Work is to be scheduled to remedy that hazardous kerb at the entrance to Preston Park on Preston Road, #Brighotn possibly in March tbc. We should still only enter the park at the entrance, though and not take a diagonal.

Sadly, someone was hit by a car/van at the dreadful Carden Avenue/A23 roundabout on Fri 23/1/26 and the driver left the scene! There is an appeal for witnesses & camera footage etc. Found only on Patcham Community Noticeboard on Facebook so far: facebook.com/groups/1574524…

Hello 2026! How often do you think the A23 cycle lanes are 'closed' in a year? It's very frequent. The northbound lane opposite Woodlands is currently 'closed' as in re-purposed.

Action from @BrightonHoveCC on a poorly located sign. They sent out an officer when they received a report of this obstruction in the southbound cycle lane on the A23, just before the southern junction of Old London Road.

There's a shine on the road to #Patcham instead of the previous very poor surface. This is the A23. A cycle route #NCN20. Work continues.

Did you see the bus & car collision on the A23 opposite the northern entrance to Preston Park #Brighton? It was on Thursday 25th September. It looks like the crash involved the cycle track. The car was moved off the road afterwards.

Rain often overwhelms #NCN20 Preston-Patcham. Simply clearing leaves can help. But water was pooling in the *new* cycle path opposite Preston Park at the weekend! Need to keep an eye on this in case there's a bigger problem with drainage needing attention. @BrightonHoveTCC
