@CyclonePower40 @maggiemoda You're wrong. That's just a standard. You don't seem to understand business much.
English

If you paid the Delta CEO $250,000 you would get an airline worse than Spirit Airlines.
Some of you are not putting on the thinking cap for 5 seconds. He’s paid $27M because that’s his value in the marketplace. If it was yours, you’d be making the same.

BREAKING: Delta Air Lines will no longer offer free snacks or drinks on all flights starting May 19th (under 350 miles). Meanwhile, Delta CEO Ed Bastian received $27.1 million in 2024. Consumers lose, every single time.
English

@CyclonePower40 @maggiemoda I think you’re confusing free market with cronyism
English

@pubity And a lot of the flights that were scheduled took off!!
English

@TheDailyBlunt @DarrigoMelanie LMAO. It kind of is what you said. They are not “absorbing” that cost, they are raising prices, cutting perks, etc. Yes, Spirit was in dire straits and this was simply the final straw. Glad you can over generalize things and then call other people stupid when they say it’s silly
English

@CyclonePower40 @DarrigoMelanie That’s not what I said at all stupid. Look at airlines in general, the rest are absorbing the cost because the business model isn’t a bottom scraper. Properly built businesses are able to take some hits and/or pivot if needed.
English

JetBlue has raised prices and cut flights, and explicitly said that it is a result of rising fuel costs because of Trump’s war in Iran.
Fusilli Spock@awstar11
Why didn't JetBlue go out of business due to rising fuel costs?
English

@realObamaSucks @maggiemoda Yes, that’s what market value means. Take care
English

@CyclonePower40 @maggiemoda He has that salary solely bc that's "the industry standard." Ppl "expect" to be paid around that amount and the companies sort of know this, too. But lots of CEOs drive their companies to the ground and get that, then their next job still pays them that.
English

@MistedTwister @DarrigoMelanie They didn’t. They just filed bankruptcy twice 😂😂
English

@DarrigoMelanie Jet fuel cost now and four years ago. Why didn’t Spirit cease operations back then?

English

@TheDailyBlunt @DarrigoMelanie Yes, most businesses can easily afford to swallow their largest cost doubling almost overnight. Makes perfect sense, great insight!!
English

@DarrigoMelanie Any business in trouble over fuel costs has a bad economic model and should cease operating anyway as they are bound to fail. Same thing toy and clothing retailers had to deal with except it was inventory rather than fuel. can’t bail out or pivot so you ride the ship down.
English

@DarrigoMelanie Yes, they are making adjustments to try to survive. That happens in the marketplace when conditions change
English

@NotFunnyX1 @amelia_tweetz What was the reason they filed for bankruptcy the first two times?
English

@amelia_tweetz MAGA plays a game that’s why they can’t mention this fact. They have to gaslight about everything in order to keep their racist motivated agenda going.
English

@realObamaSucks @maggiemoda Tell us why you think this guy has that value? Plus, all of that, if true, doesn’t change the fact that this is his value in the current marketplace
English

@maggiemoda BTW, this is a false statement abt executive pay. It would be fine if they had that value and received that pay. But clearly MOST executives suck at their jobs and still receive that pay, so the pay is just set at that figure irrespective of their value.
English

@maggiemoda @EWErickson Nope. CEOs are overpaid.
Sorry, but this capitalist system is immoral.
English

@believebetter1 @maggiemoda They only made $6B last year with a margin more than double the industry. Great point.
English

@maggiemoda Except this particular CEO is not that great.
English

@StealthTax @maggiemoda You suggested this is a bad decision. Now you are saying it is clearly a good decision. Weird. All good though. Take care
English

@CyclonePower40 @maggiemoda I don’t care about any of that, it’s how it works in most of the world already. Self catering is clearly better for all parties. I’m talking about the CEO’s pay.
English

@maggiemoda And it’s grossly incorrect.
He does not provide that much value.
English

@Ahully1 @maggiemoda @EWErickson Because that’s the value in their marketplace. This stuff isn’t that hard
English

@maggiemoda @EWErickson Then why are Japan and other countries’ CEO’s paid so much less? And there’s no way any human’s judgement is worth $27m. Build AI tool for exec decisions now that’s worth $27m+.
