Somehow, the number of Black and Latino kids getting into NYC's specialized high schools is DECLINING. Schools will be 9% Black/Latino this year. 8 Black students got into Stuyvesant. Despite Ron Lauder $ for test prep + focus on the issue, the numbers are getting worse.

@elizashapiro I agreed. I also predict a fault line in high school between parents who want their vaccinated kids in full-time for their Junior and senior years and parents who refuse vaccination, this forcing the continuation of a remote model.

I am seeing this in my reporting every day around school reopening. I don't think districts understand just how frightened some parents are by the prospect of sending their kids back this *fall*
