The drone crash in a residential building in Galati is a serious and reckless escalation, a flagrant violation of Romania’s sovereignty, and a stark reminder that Russia’s war against Ukraine continues to threaten European security. European coordination and solidarity in responding to evolving security challenges is crucial. Cyprus stands in full solidarity with Romania and the families of the injured.

🇨🇾🇮🇳 The State Visit of the President of the Republic of Cyprus @christodoulides to India concludes with a concrete political footprint, clear deliverables and a substantive outlook for the next chapter of #Cyprus🇨🇾 - #India🇮🇳 relations. The central outcome is the elevation of bilateral relations to a Strategic Partnership. This development reflects the highest level of bilateral engagement, a convergence of perspectives and objectives, as well as a shared commitment to advancing cooperation with practical substance in critical areas. The Joint Statement, the Memoranda of Understanding, the institutional cooperation mechanisms, and the progress achieved in implementing the Cyprus-India Joint Action Plan 2025-2029 constitute a structured roadmap for the next phase of relations. Cooperation is being strengthened in trade, investment, shipping, financial services, technology, innovation, the digital economy, education, defence, security and connectivity. At the same time, Cyprus is emerging as India’s gateway to #Europe. As a Member State of the European Union, a country of the Eastern Mediterranean, and a reliable regional hub for shipping, services, technology and investment, Cyprus is well positioned to connect India’s dynamism with the European market and new geoeconomic routes, while assuming an active role in one of the most significant geoeconomic frameworks of our time. Important deliverables have also been achieved in the fields of defence, security, cybersecurity, search and rescue, and counter-terrorism, creating a more systematic framework for cooperation with a country of growing international influence. The economic dimension of the visit carries particular significance. Meetings with India’s business and investment community in Mumbai and New Delhi presented Cyprus as a credible European destination for investment, business establishment, and the expansion of activities into the European Union. Of particular political value is India’s reaffirmation of its position in support of the independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and unity of the Republic of Cyprus, as well as its support for the resumption of negotiations for a settlement of the Cyprus issue on the basis of the agreed United Nations framework. For the Republic of Cyprus, this reference carries clear political weight, as does the clarity of the messages conveyed. 🇪🇺The timing of the visit adds further significance. Relations between the European Union and India are gaining new momentum, and Cyprus, in its capacity as the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, is actively contributing to the deepening of this strategic relationship. For the Republic of Cyprus, the elevation of Cyprus-India relations sends a clear political message: our country is strengthening its international presence, expanding its strategic partnerships, and consolidating its role as a reliable gateway connecting India with Europe, in a relationship of growing geopolitical and economic importance. With seriousness, credibility and a clear strategy, Cyprus is making full use of its position and transforming its geography into political, economic and diplomatic advantage.

During the informal meeting of COEST Directors hosted by @CyprusMFA in #Nicosia under the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU discussions focused on: 🔹Continued EU support to Ukraine, including its EU accession path and efforts for just and lasting peace. 🔹Strengthening EU-Central Asia relations. @CY2026EU
