Friedman says the Ducks offered Leo 8x$10.5M last offseason (around when they signed LaCombe).
The agents say that the Ducks were very persistent with trying to sign Leo, but they (the agents) had no intention of signing that early with where they saw the market going.

@CzarBeek most of the pieces we added around them were always temporary solutions for our guys to find their game anyways. our core d is still promising, just with less vet support, & i never said it was better but that doesn’t mean it isnt going to improve as our ducks & gulls develop.

Carlsson’s new contract puts them in a bind for now, but you’ll never recoup the value of a legitimate 1C entering his prime with four first round picks.
Pressure is now on Verbeek to maneuver wisely around the lessened cap space.
