felt this when I liked weird obscure things afraid people would hate me for liking weird things. got into superman (one of The Most Popular things ever). now feel afraid being too into a thing everyone knows. you gotta learn to stop giving a fuck, it doesn't go away on its own

I've noticed that comic book fans badly want DC to play shit super safe and are mad about creative risks in Superman and Lanterns But playing it safe is a big part of why the cbm genre has been dying. You won't have a successful dcu that way

@Rebel0fReality Before I rewatched this film, I also rewatched ‘78 and 2 (my fan edit that I sent you). Made me imagine a version of this where Clark doesn’t say he loves her and they break up. It would be in line with those films and Pre-Crisis. Mark Waid would probably love it more lol.

I love that this scene has the underlying context that Lois is lowkey here to break up with Clark. This is the one moment in his entire chaotic day that he’s able to breathe and be around someone he trust and can laugh with, but the second he gets the idea that Lois may not be reciprocating his feelings for her? He wants to keep it moving, but not without telling her that he loves her.

you know people knock on the JL for being more professional and less dramatic than other superhero teams but this means there's untapped workplace comedy. an HR department gets established after the 15th time someone says "how can we trust an ALIEN? no offense" to clark and j'onn
