@NinanininVT Isn’t Half-Life Source basically just burnt spaghetti code held together by Elmer’s Glue and Gaben’s sheer will?
English

@gubbastronaut @Narcowar2 @ShitpostRock2 Makes the fan circulate cooler air. Actually does make a noticeable difference in enclosed spaces, I’ve been doing it for years
English

I am fucking BEGGING Europeans to stop posting this retarded shit and just buy a fucking AC unit for 200$
Reisshub@Reisshub
34 degrees in the UK today

@Kotazumaa I didn’t know there were that many slurs for Danish people.

Woman: "You need to better yourself before a woman will love you."
Another woman: "I dated a homeless guy."
At this point, I give up. 🤣

@kenshirotism Joke in the UK is they remember that one twister in 86 that knocked over a wheelie bin. Think it’s a matter of stronger building materials.
Reality in the US is since it’s going to be destroyed anyway, would you rather get hit in the head with a chunk of wood or a flying brick.
English

I don't think Europe really knows what a tornado is.
Andrea@Andrea19aaa
@222rainclouds Americans complain about tornados every year but they refuse to spend money on a proper house that doesn’t fly away with some wind
English

@st4rshooo It’s your Northern brethren that haven’t seen the light.
English

@noinconsistency For me, it’s not the complaining about the heat, it’s the complaining about the solution. I’ve been insulted by a Brit for suggesting a bowl of ice in front of a fan before, and a French guy once tried to convince me “thermal shock” was more of a threat than overheating.
English

@CvltOfChrissy I know you’re just taking the piss out of Americans with this to be cheeky, but the fact I’ve seen other people today unironically make comparisons to tornadoes and hurricanes and think they’ve made an iron-clad point is genuinely hilarious.
English

@sigma485849 @MilesTrav I actually have seen a few people today make comparisons to tornadoes, dying from lack of healthcare, and school shootings because Americans are telling them to buy fans or an AC.
Not laughing about it, of course, but the acting like they’re proportinal is rather silly.
English

@MilesTrav No one has ever said those 3 quotes but keep making things up
English

So I try to stay relatively neutral on UK vs US discourse as a Brit in the US, but one key piece of info a lot of Americans are missing is the cost of UK electricity. Even if you could afford to buy a small AC unit, the cost to run it would be astronomical

cute brute@CuteBrute718
@softlxnar so get some air conditioning
English

@Andrea19aaa @222rainclouds Unlike indoor heat, tornadoes can’t be completely nullified by a €70 box that goes in your window.

@222rainclouds Americans complain about tornados every year but they refuse to spend money on a proper house that doesn’t fly away with some wind
English

@Narcowar2 @ShitpostRock2 That is a fan. It does nothing in regards to temperature. It moves air.
English

@lazylucyowo @jacobiedezzus @Dayaritwt @ShitpostRock2 Which are all problems that can’t be easily fixed by a €70 box that goes in your window.
English

@JRoss6531 @jacobiedezzus @Dayaritwt @ShitpostRock2 But you have daily school shootings, homeless veteran and people who go bankrupt from medical expenses.. oh and natural disasters that you beg other countries to help you with
English

@ChristinaTasty They’re like €70-200 to buy and would only cost maybe €15-20 to run for the days it gets unbearably hot.
Fans with a bowl of ice in front of them work decently, too, but I’ve also been seeing people claiming fans don’t work today.
I don’t understand the commitment to suffer.

Americans saying "just buy an AC"

@chromuru Ohio’s great.
As long as you avoid Cleveland, Cincinnati, Columbus, Toledo, Dayton, Youngstown, Akron, Warren, Sandusky, Marion, Ashtabula, and East Liverpool.
And that town full of exploding poison trains, East Palestine.
English

@N1k57 I got yelled at on YouTube by a Brit when I suggested just putting a bowl of ice in front of a fan, saying it wouldn’t work even though I’ve been doing that for years because somehow being hot works differently in Europe, I guess.
Some of ya’ll are just committed to suffering.
English

No, Patrick, that's not how weather works in Europe. If there's only hot and dry air, a fan it's useless. And using AC all the time, it costs too much for poor people. If someone it's making fun of Europe, 100% that person is from North America.

rain@222rainclouds
europeans complain about the heat every year but refuse to get so much as a fan for their window let alone an ac system
