Yet another striking illustration of just how ideologically rigid the West has become compared to what we used to be. This was the obituary The Economist published for Mao in 1976 - at the height of the Cold War. Read this part: "In the final reckoning Mao must be accepted as one of history's great achievers: for devising a peasant-centred revolutionary strategy which enabled China's Communist party to seize power, against Marx's prescriptions, from bases in the countryside; for directing the transformation of China from a feudal society wracked by war and bled by corruption, into a unified egalitarian state where nobody starves; and for reviving national pride and confidence so that China could, in Mao's words, 'stand up' among the great power." Show this text to any Economist "journalists" today - without telling them it's from their own paper - and they'd reply: surely it's "CCP propaganda" 😏 Yes, incredible as it may sound, there used to be a time when Western journalists could assess a geopolitical rival honestly and respectfully without being accused of being a traitor. And this honesty was in no small part a key factor why the West won the Cold War. Today we call honest assessment "propaganda," and we harass, smear, and blacklist people for it. And we're puzzled why the West is in steep decline. Truth matters.

couldn’t rebuild a squad cos he didn’t leave with a domestic treble … ? something that’s only ever been done once in English football history … by him 😂😂
Bart@UtdBart

Pep getting run out of England by Slot and Arteta consecutively is so dark for his legacy. He couldn’t even rebuild his squad once after the likes of De Bruyne, Gundogan, Walker, Mahrez etc left. Fergie left with a title after rebuilding us multiple times over 26 years.

@jbrous41 Classic centrist normalising bigoted/far right rhetoric while aiming to appease mythical swing votes. The Overton window takes another step to the right. Rinse repeat. A tale as old as time.

No congratulations from me. Call me salty all you want. By far the worst team to win the league, aided drastically by VAR and PGMOL. Fuck Arsenal 👍🏻

He won every swing state then bragged about it. Nobody has done that, and it was statistically impossible, plus the down ballot on all those states were democratic.

BREAKING: Elon Musk's baby mama reveals that he used "space technology" in the 2024 election and implies that he STOLE it for Donald Trump. This deserves a full federal investigation by Democrats... "In October, Elon tells me that he is ready to release his, in his words 'anomaly in the matrix' And I am like, oh, like, who's that? And he says that he has 10,000 lasers in space, referring to his satellites," said Ashley St. Clair, one of the many women whom Musk has impregnated and then promptly began treating like dirt. "I say, because I am like, rather uncomfortable, and I know the gravity of what he's trying to tell me right now. I say, 'Wow, finally, a focus on the Jewish vote. He keeps going," she continued. "And he says, you know, this is not something on, this is not a piece that they'll see on the chessboard." "And I straight up tell him, I say, I would ask more, but I really don't want to be deposed, to which he says, very wise," she added. The implication here is clearly that Musk was doing something illegal and that St. Clair wanted plausible deniability. "Shortly after that, you know, he's involved with AmericaPAC and all of this other stuff, and he's sending me some internal data from AmericaPAC, real time delta vote metrics," recounted St. Clair. "And I am just like, how the f*ck do you have this sort of data? You don't get this from door knocking, because that was my first one of my first jobs in politics was in campaigns and cleaning up this bad data from door knocking, because the vendors that AmericaPAC is using at this point is a vendor that hires Craigslist crackheads for door knocking. And I wish I was exaggerating there, but I'm not." St. Clair said that she now recognizes that she "caused harm" with her "rhetoric" when she was leaning into being a far-right persona, but claimed that she only ever wanted what's "best" for America. Clearly, she feels that she can no longer in good conscience remain silent on 2024. "And one thing is I have always, always hated big tech," she said. "So then to have arguably the most powerful man in the world, who is sending me things about, you know, using his space technology in the election. I should also say that I have all of this backed up with many people with explicit instructions, should anything happen to me, okay." "But this was something that I was internally wrestling with, while publicly not really showing that I was having any of these internal ethical conflicts with myself regarding this information," she went on. "And then on election night itself, Elon, you know, left Mar-a-Lago early. I was at Mar-a-Lago and he told me, he told me over text, he's like, 'Yeah, I knew hours ago that Trump won. My team has the best real-time data anywhere,'" said St. Clair. "First of all, how the f*ck do you have real-time data on elections?" she continued. "How do you have real-time data? I could not understand that. I don't know that I ever will. I just, I saw some shit, guys. Like, I saw some shit and I'm fighting really hard to keep my voice because I saw shit that impacts everyone. And if I was self-interested, I have been offered the self-interested deal to shut up and not talk about anything. But what I can tell you is I've not been offered certain deals just because I know that he's weird." "Okay. I saw some shit," she concluded. This woman must be immediately subpoenaed to testify before Congress under oath about the "shit" she saw. If Elon Musk — who spent $291 million to help Republicans during the 2024 cycle — really used his technology to illegally interfere in our elections, he must be prosecuted and imprisoned. And if any votes were tampered with, the election must be overturned! Please ❤️ and share to demand a full investigation!

So let me get this right. Arsenal fans last week didn’t seem to care about consistency being enforced in the rules, now they’re talking about how the Foden challenge wasn’t given…? Foden’s was a red. Just like Havertz’s. The difference was Havertz’s was 100x more blatant and dangerous, as he came in sliding full force.

UK news: HS2 could cost up to £102.7bn and may not open until 2039 (BBC) This is Chongqing railway station rebuild in China. It cost £16.5bn and took only around 3 1/2 years to complete. Their high speed rail (350km/hr) cost just £5.9bn and took 6 years

Donnarumma once again proving why shot prevention > shot stopping A brilliant Bournemouth press coupled with the inability to reliably use their keeper as the spare man in build-up ensures Man City players have to ultimately go-long and turn over possession.

@elgoritv @InvertTheWing My "logic" was that the decisions were all mistakes, but comparing the context of the Foden "sending off" to the Havertz one is a false equivalence considering one did not and could not materially change the result, while the other could well have done

🚨 Thierry Henry on Pep Guardiola and how he changed football at Barcelona and Manchester City .: “Before Pep, football was about moments. One counterattack, one star player, one mistake deciding the game. Pep changed that completely. At Barcelona, he created a team that controlled every second of the match. People talk about tiki-taka like it was just passing… but it was much deeper than that. It was positioning, movement, intelligence, pressing. Every player knew where the next pass would go before receiving the ball. I remember watching training sessions and thinking: ‘This is not normal football anymore. This is choreography.’ He didn’t just improve great players he changed the way they saw the game. Lionel Messi became more complete, midfielders played like conductors, defenders started building attacks instead of only stopping them. And then he went to Manchester City and did it again in the hardest league in the world. People said English football was too fast, too physical, too chaotic for that style. Pep arrived and transformed the entire league. Suddenly every club wanted ball-playing defenders, pressing systems, technical midfielders. Even rival managers had to adapt because of him. That’s when you understand his real greatness. Great coaches win trophies. Pep changed football culture itself. When people speak about modern football in the future, there will be a period before Guardiola… and a period after Guardiola.” ⚽
