Deceived his team, threw the university under the bus, scapegoated a website, misrepresented the entire situation, and never took an ounce of responsibility. I’ll never forget the time he no showed on his player’s camp for kids. Character matters and he had none. Good riddance

If Willard weren’t a complete fraud and coward, he would schedule a home and home with Maryland beginning next year. These two fan bases already despise each other (well they hate us at least, we just despise their alcoholic coach). The hype would be unreal regardless of records.

Look, I get he has a serious drinking problem but there is no excuse for Kevin Willard throwing his staff under the bus publicly like this. He does the same thing to his players. Did the same to his university this time last year. Complete scumbag.

@RealBrianMartin It is well known throughout the MD basketball community. He showed up drunk to the tipoff dinner slurring his words in front of fans and donor. He excused it by claiming he had played golf that day. He talked publicly after games about going home and slamming 10 drinks. C’mon man

I think it’s reasonable criticism about the comment itself but to attaching a personal insult based on hearsay it’s just an immature crybaby stuff. The guy stopped coaching your favorite team. There are bigger tragedies in life.

@DCBarno Ok you have unimpeachable of a “drinking problem” which in itself as a subject measurement. You should publish it. It seems like you’re a journalist based on your bio would be a huge story I didn’t even want Villanova to hire the guy. I wouldn’t care if he left tomorrow.

He had the greatest success of his career here. Went to Sweet 16. Finished in top 10. Had a good life. Had the support of fans. MD agreed to all his demands. None of it was enough. He screwed us, and in the end, he screwed Villanova too. Kevin Willard got exactly what he deserved
