Two for the Price of One No rest for the weary as #ReadyOrNot2 @searchlightpics takes up right where the original left off (literally hours later.) This time the stakes are higher with more places to hide, but a less interesting (yet way louder) group of six families in hot pursuit. Lacks the subtlety of its predecessor (but certainly not the bloodshed.) Grade: C+

Newbie alert at @tacobell. Beefy Potato (Loaded) Popper ($2.79) hits the spot with (creamy) seasoned beef, potatoes and pico de gallo. Not on par with a @ChipotleTweets burrito, but for under 3 bucks? Sold! B Chocolate Fudge & Caramel Empanadas make a dynamite 🧨 dessert combo for a mere $2.99. Caramel > Fudge by a mile, but creative for Taco Bell. Caramel = 3-bite wonder A-, Choc. Fudge = Too much chocolate, pass D Last but certainly not least, TB’s $1 Happier Hour Drink (Mountain Dew Baja Midnight) a tasty pairing of lime & passion fruit, that belies its thrifty price. A+ True to form, another budget home run (lunch for less than a tenner) for “The Bell” 🔔 B+ (Killer drank.)

Everyone needs goals. Promising to run & finish next year’s @RunRocknRoll half-marathon in DC. I’ll be 58 and haven’t so much as jogged in over a decade. I want that medal! #FingersCrossed

First time at @gocodough in #Ballston, and I can see why it’s so busy. Standard-size $4 doughnuts 🍩 are bigger than most, flaky inside and covered in delicious frostings (Chocolate & Maple 🍁.) They were sold out of my first few choices, including the Cherry Blossom Doughnut ☹️ but it’s hard to complain about 2 really good staple choices B for both. On the other hand, their $4.20 Cherry 🍒 Vanilla Bomb 💣 failed to impress, despite a generous Bavarian cream filling. Trouble is, its sourdough interior is stiff as a board and the cherry covering near-impossible to taste. Perhaps it’s the word “bomb” that promoted optimism, but color me disappointed instead D-. Overall, it’s hard to ignore the lively atmosphere & well-made standards. A solid B (despite the bomb.)

Best Adapted Screenplay: One Battle After Another Best Original Screenplay: Sinners Best Cinematography: Sinners (One Battle After Another has a shot, but once again, it should be Sinners.) Best Foreign Film: @sentvaluefilm (We're rooting for The Secret Agent, and it has a chance.) Bummer! Joel Edgerton delivers an earnest/memorable performance in @traindreamsfilm, an Oscar hopeful with Terrence Malick vibes and a not-so-friendly reminder about how hard it was living in the early 20th century. It’s equal parts beautiful and sobering, leaning (heavily) towards the latter in the second half. If you think 🤔 your job is rough, watch this. Grade: B-

I have been informed by NBC that I won’t be back with FNIA this fall and it has given me time to reflect and also to look ahead.    It’s disappointing  news but I want to thank my NBC family for making the last 17 years so special.  I’ll have lasting memories of my time there, especially with Rodney Harrison who has become a tremendous friend.   God has always directed me in these moments and while I’m not sure what the next step will be for me—whether it will be in football, in broadcasting, or getting more involved in church and community outreach —I know God has plans for my life and I can’t wait see them unfold. And I am reminded of one of my favorite verses in the Bible-Romans 8:28. “God works all things for His good for those who love the Lord.”
