@edwardbrgr Star Wars started though as something that was tonally slippery and playfully amorphous. That fearful brand management might be what's led to the Disney Star Wars era being so checkered. In fact, the best thing Kennedy championed, Andor, ended up being the most transgressive.

I’m a huge fan of Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, but I completely understand why Kathleen Kennedy made that call. By all accounts, they came in thinking they were hired for their improvisational, comedy-driven sensibilities, encouraging actors to go off-script quite a bit, even without Lawrence Kasdan’s approval, which led to confusion about tone and performance direction on Solo and while that loose, inventive style can work beautifully in the right project, it didn’t really align with the tightly controlled, tone-sensitive demands of a Star Wars film, so even if it’s fascinating to imagine their version, the decision to pivot makes a lot of sense.

Absolutely love Solo, but, having watched the superb #ProjectHailMary, would love to have seen what Lord and Miller were cooking with the movie.

I am Nostradamus! (who also got 2/4 acting categories wrong)

Back in January I predicted Michael B. Jordan would win Best Actor. Tonight let’s find out if I’m Nostradamus (and ignore I also predicted Stellan to pull off Best Supporting Actor…)

My plane just landed in Los Angeles and even from 30,000 feet I could hear the backhand of Conan’s digs at Netflix. #Oscars
(Also it shoulda been Stellan Skarsgard for Supporting Actor)

Like all Radio Silence laughers, Ready or Not 2 is buoyant in its optimism and good vibes, even while staring into the abyss. If the world is doomed, we can take catharsis in a fantasy where Grace relaxes in her murder-gown while eviscerating the elite: denofgeek.com/movies/ready-o…

Elle Fanning is fab while juggling unfabulous mama trauma in Margo’s Got Money Troubles, but it’s Michelle Pfeiffer who really gets triumphant monologues which she reigns over. Also didn’t know I needed Nick Offerman as a wrestling heel in my life but I’m thrilled it’s here!#SXSW
