Start your own business. Put up all the money when the product/success is not yet guaranteed, and reap all the benefits. Players wanting equity in a 75 year, mature business that is worth billions, is not an insightful idea. Nor is it new. New players come in all the time. Players *are* short term contractors – a good career is 10 years. The League has been around for 75. The structure is more valuable than the players; it is less replaceable. You did not invest in the structure. You work inside of it. you will retire one day, and be replaced with a different player. The structure will endure, long after you, and the Player who takes your place. TLDR: Players have no leverage and this won’t happen. Sounds good to entertain fans (and players) who don’t understand business.

Let’s be real…the CBA makes sure owners, PE funds and outside investors can eat off NBA team equity, but the players driving the ratings and the merch are treated like short‑term contractors. And funny thing is we should be like independent contractors. Since we are w-2 we can’t even write off certain things like our agent fees. BS
