As we focus today’s prayer on 1 John 1, “Walking in the Light” a deeper understanding of what John is saying is probably worth talking about. 🔸John wrote this letter late in his life, likely between 85–95 AD from Ephesus, where he pastored after the other apostles had died. He’s the last living eyewitness of Jesus, writing to churches under threat from an early form of “Gnosticism”… a false teaching claiming that the physical world was evil and only “secret spiritual knowledge” mattered. Some of these type of teachers denied Jesus actually came in the flesh, and others claimed that since the body didn’t matter, sin committed in the body didn’t matter either. You could claim fellowship with God while living however you pleased. John writes to demolish both lies. That’s why he opens the way he does: “That which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched.” John isn’t offering philosophy, it’s HIS (John’s) actual testimony. He ate with Jesus, leaned against him at the last supper, watched him die, touched his risen body. The Word of life is not an idea, he is a person who entered history. Against teachers selling secret knowledge, John says the truth was public, physical, and touchable. 🔸Starting in verse 5 John explains his thoughts deeper. His first main point is the nature of God. “God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.” Light in Scripture means holiness, truth, and self-revelation. God is morally pure and he makes himself known. And here’s the confrontation, you cannot claim fellowship with a God of pure light while walking in darkness. John calls that lying, not merely being mistaken. Fellowship with God always shows up in how we actually live. Relationship produces resemblance. 🔸His second main point starting verse 6 is the honest path to that fellowship and this is where the chapter turns pastoral. John doesn’t say walking in the light means sinlessness. In fact, he says the opposite: “If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves.” Walking in the light isn’t perfection; it’s honesty. It’s living exposed before God rather than hidden. The person in the light is the one who confesses. The person in darkness is the one who pretends. And when we confess, God is “faithful and just” to forgive, faithful to his promise, just because the blood of Jesus already paid for it. Forgiveness isn’t God bending the rules, it’s God honoring the cross. 🔹For us as followers of Christ, the role is clear. We are witnesses and confessors. Like John, we proclaim what we have seen and experienced in Jesus. FAITH is meant to be declared, not privatized. And we live transparently, quick to confess rather than quick to hide, because our JOY is made complete not by managing our image but by genuine fellowship with God and each other. The church (faith & belief in Jesus Christ) was never meant to be a gathering of people pretending to be clean, but of people continually being cleansed.

Heavenly Father, I want to walk in the light with you today, but I know there are parts of me I still keep in the dark. Places I hide, sins I minimize, things I’d rather manage myself than confess. Your word says that if I claim to be without sin, I’m only deceiving myself so I won’t pretend with you anymore. Here I am, honest. I have sinned. I’ve fallen short in my thoughts, my words, the things I’ve done, and the things I’ve left undone. And yet you don’t ask me to clean myself up before I come. You ask me to confess. So I confess it all to you now, trusting your promise, that you are faithful and just to forgive me and to purify me from all unrighteousness. Thank you that fellowship with you isn’t something I earn; it’s something the blood of Jesus makes possible. Thank you that the message hasn’t changed: You are light, and in you there is no darkness at all. Draw me out of the shadows I settle for. Expose what I’ve been avoiding, not to shame me, but to heal me. Let my life proclaim what I’ve seen and heard of you, the word of life, made real to me. And let my joy be complete, not in circumstances, but in walking closely with you and with the people you’ve placed around me. Keep me in the light, Father. When I stumble, remind me quickly that confession is the way back, not hiding. In the name of our risen savior, Jesus Christ, Amen. #dailyprayer✝️

Make me a person of prayer, not just reaction. Train my heart to recognize the real war behind the visible one, so I stop swinging at shadows and start standing firm in you. Guard my mind when the enemy whispers lies. Guard my heart when discouragement creeps in. Guard my home, my family, and everyone I love from the schemes of the evil one. I don’t stand in this fight alone, and I don’t stand in my own power. I stand in yours. The nearby Aug spread sits near $2.27/bu, the widest point on the curve before narrowing 🔻 to $1.88 into Nov as the US export window opens up. But here's the takeaway, even at its tightest, the gap never closes. Brazil's offer firms into Nov (14.80) then fades as their new crop comes into view, and the US premium widens 🔺 right back out to $2.06 by Jan. 🇺🇸 US #Gulf holds a firm 16.50–16.72 the whole way out.
