@KyleMackProd In simpler words, this is a video game match you think is possible as a kid, but you're supposed to grow up & realize that would be stupid & dangerous to try, & it would never work any way, & that's WAY too many spots, & there's no flow or escalation or story.

@KyleMackProd Almost nothing but high praises for this. Fine art pushed to levels of absurdity & convolutedness that is nearly impossible to achieve without being a complete parody or disaster, but their sincerity & commitment are so strong that it somehow works & keeps working to the end.

On pure nostalgia I got the original Doom a couple months ago thinking I'd dabble in it for kicks before quickly moving on to the modern versions. Turns out it helped start the FPS revolution for a reason.

The way this game, by its very design, keeps you in check if at ANY point you think you can just cruise or speed through, is excellent, hilarious, and sometimes maddening. It's like quicksand sometimes where your struggle is the worst thing. Calm & collected is the only way.

My friend sold me on the idea I'd enjoy souls games after getting back into gaming this year.
A dozen hours in, Demon's Souls just keeps getting better & I feel myself absorbed more & more. Something I'm not sure would've been true for myself 10+ years ago when my 360 died.

@lookatmyopinion The physics in particular I remember being much better. Especially with vehicles. And not only the main story, but the DLC stories were excellent too.

@DDeMarco_ GTA IV is the better single player game imo when you consider all aspects. I did a playthrough of both like 2 years ago, and it’s way easier to be invested in Niko’s story. The world genuinely feels gloomy and grey 90% of the time. Physics and overall gameplay were very good too.

Could be rose spectacles, but I have fonder memories of 4 and think it accomplished what it set out to better than 5. Seems to get a lot of criticism that I've never understood.
Vivid memories of that excitement though. Next-gen GTA is an event.
