@danielyoung1000 @ExnerPirot China and India don't give a flying fk about decarbonizing. Your (and the rest of the ethical oil) theorists need to pull your heads out of your models and take a step into reality.

@ExnerPirot Heather, I thought the idea was that we would build a carbon-pricing and trade bloc with the EU, and that this kind of wall would be one of the forces pushing China to decarbonize. Carbon taxes and carbon tariffs were supposed to level the terms of trade, no?

Read the comments from oil & gas CEOs from the BMO / CAPP conference. They are telling you the new industry consensus position: they don’t want any industrial carbon tax and they don’t want to pay for carbon capture. We have crossed the threshold from Canada blocking O&G investment —> Canada needing to attract it, and they know it. thecanadianpressnews.ca/business/indus…

@PatrikMuncaster @ExnerPirot You do realize we send mega tonnes to China, Asia and India every year and they want more. We could be selling all of them LNG to reduce their pollution but know nothings like yourself don't want that either. Instead you want govt handouts from borrowed money.

Who, I mean Who, listens to oil industry executives? They speak for a "sunset industry". (like the coal industry) They speak for self interest. They never talk about the existential threat of our times. Or about air pollution. Or about the Dutch Disease. I have great fun driving passed the pumps in time of yet another war to support oil interests. I love to watch decade after decade the falling costs of renewables. I am reminded that it is the oil industry that got Trump elected and keeps Putin and his oligarchs in power. Sympathy for the oil industry. It is found under S in the dictionary.

Woohoo! About $4 off a completely empty diesel fill up. $2.18/L in Kamloops. About 2 boxes of Kraft Dinner. What was $150 a month ago is now over $200. 3 times per month. With the April 1st carbon increase the 4 bucks is gone. Put in 1 pocket take a little more from the other.
Liberal Party@liberal_party

🚨 We’re saving you money at the pump: up to 10 cents per litre from next Monday until Labour Day. Our new Liberal government is focused on what we can control, and we’re building an economy where Canadians are empowered with greater security, certainty, and a lower cost of living.

Imagine you're planning the Canada of 2050. Which of these options would you pick ... A. A Conservative victory in 2021. It immediately becomes a Doug Ford-like zombie government, structural issues go untouched, cans are kicked. B. A Liberal Götterdämmerung that does not cease until every flaw and rend in the Canadian project is hideously exposed for all to see.

A friendly reminder: When you vote Liberal, you’re voting for more of this. 👇 When you vote Liberal, you’re voting to force even more Canadians to rely on food banks just to feed their families. When you vote Liberal, you’re voting to make life more expensive, housing more unaffordable, and taxes even higher for you and your kids. When you vote Liberal, you’re voting against your children and grandchildren’s future. When you vote Liberal, you’re voting to make Canada a more dangerous country with softer crime policies and open borders. When you vote Liberal, you’re voting for higher inflation, record debt, and corruption.

This is Toronto Canada right now. Mark Carney told Canadians that affordability’s the best it’s been in over a decade. Maybe for him.

@MarkJCarney I feel compelled at this point to interject that the ONLY reason you are even here today is because your predecessor screwed up so badly that he had to prorogue parliament to escape the rampant scandals sinking your government. No one “gave” you anything. You took it.

“We found out over the weekend that the Liberal Party believes that children need to be 16 years of age or older to have social media accounts. According to the Liberal Party, having kids under 16 hold social media accounts can have detrimental effects on children. This is the same party that believes that 12- and 13-year-olds are wise enough to make the decision, without parental input, to transition their gender and start taking puberty blockers.”

@AriGoldkind @PierrePoilievre Past 10 years of Trudeau and now a wasted year of Carney have been disastrous. Now with a majority there's nothing stopping this govt from dragging us further away from democracy. Censorship laws, total unaccountability, woke green nonsense, immigration. All bad & getting worse.

I like @PierrePoilievre - I do. But it’s time that he take off the gloves. Unmuzzle himself. The mushy middle or being non offensive won’t lead to success. Just tell the FULL truth about what’s going on in this country. Be willing to be called a meaningless name. It’s time

I am deeply worried that B.C. is about to enter an economic decline much worse than the pan of the 1990's. Consider: Private sector job growth has basically been flat for a decade. Public sector job growth has exploded, increasing by 30% in the last three years alone. This has led to record deficits and debt which have in turn led to multiple credit rating downgrades. Uncertainty over decision making and financial ownership for both fee simple private property and the public land base has led to investment fleeing or suspended. Combine this with a near historic slowdown in home building and real estate and it becomes the perfect storm. That is why 80,000 people, primarily those in their peak productive years, have fled the province in the last year alone. People are both leaving personally and moving their money out of B.C. to jurisdictions with opportunity to succeed. We see it in forestry collapse. We see it in a decade high unemployment. We see it in a lack of major investment. BC is at serious risk of becoming a wasteland for economic growth. All of these issues were preventable. All were caused by reckless government decision-making. Eby has accelerated the decline since he took over. But all NDP MLAs bare responsibility. Every single one.

WASHINGTON/OTTAWA – A groundbreaking study has mapped 2,294 organizations with proven links to the Chinese Communist Party's "united front" influence apparatus across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Germany—with Canada exhibiting nearly five times the per-capita penetration rate of the U.S. and the highest density of CCP-linked organizations among all four democracies.

A lot of non-Liberals are going to be disappointed as Carney secures a majority government tonight. And many will see that majority as illegitimate since it was secured through back room deals rather than earned in a general election. Truth is, though, it’s not illegitimate. It’s just how our imperfect system works and has done for decades in favour of one party or the other. That said, it will certainly FEEL illegitimate to many Canadians. I know it will to me. But, really, who cares? On the plus side, PM Carney will have one less excuse for not delivering on all those promised nation building projects at speeds unseen in generations — in spite of, or perhaps because of, his new circus-sized tent. Let’s also hope the media finally finds its spine to start holding the majority circus performers, and not just the incredible shrinking Opposition, to account for what happens and what does not.

Tonight was very difficult. The University of Toronto's Governing Council was invited by the Israeli Consulate to view the footage of the October 7th massacre. It was difficult because of what those few who chose to attend saw, and because of why it was necessary to see it. I'm a doctor. I've seen horrible things, but what I witnessed was beyond description. The graphic footage of Hamas death squads gleefully shooting, burning, and cutting their way through women, men and the elderly was deeply disturbing. But it was the horrible fate of the children that will haunt me to my grave. It was necessary to see it, because the University of Toronto continues to allow groups to hide behind dubious claims of academic freedom and freedom of speech when what is really being spread is hate. One cannot bear witness to the horrors of the massacre and sincerely profess that holding a vigil on October 7th "Honouring our Martyrs" like the one held that University of Toronto Mississauga campus is acceptable, decent, or civil. The University can no longer rationalize away this type of outrageous behavior. Guardrails for civil discourse and civil behavior must be established for students and staff alike if we are to fulfill our mission of shaping young minds to become the future of our great country. We must bring the newly invigorated and vicious beast of antisemitism to heel, and we must start in our classrooms. @UofT @UofTMississauga @UofTNews @nolanmquinn @fordnation @TeamKerzner @MichelleC_PC
