There's no consistent promotion or content around it like before. When ACGL was announced, people pushed it hard in scrim groups and on Twitter. 3/4

@FoxIsBadAtCs @Cloudzehh @NixuhCorp @officialxiN The gap is valid, but it didn't appear because of Faceit or ESEA. There's no consistent structure, and rosters change every 2 months. I'm pretty sure Molotov Masters has had only 2 tournaments anyway, which still had decent sign-ups. 1/4

@NixuhCorp @lumencs_ @officialxiN This is the standings of the LAST EVER (CSGO) ESEA Season which costed players R40 per month which they could buy over steam. Essentially asking players to sell 1 skin every month and they could win 10x that for placing high enough in their divisions.

@lumencs_ @officialxiN @NixuhCorp The real fall off of local CS in ZA was the transition period where ESEA merged with FACEIT. FACEIT is all about making money and pulling a profit so ESEA ended up going from R40 on STEAM to a R400 per person every season entry fee. It's just not appealing to anyone casual.

@lumencs_ @officialxiN @NixuhCorp Paying R400 for a sub to play against 6 teams is outrageous. The lower the cost the more teams register. Look at ACGL, 27 teams registered.

@officialxiN @NixuhCorp Sign-ups also dropped because of the cost of ESEA (R400 sub).

1. ESL Qualifier not guaranteed. 2. No solid ESEA season + 1 LAN per year. 3. ACGL & Mettlestate don’t care for cs. 4. Very costly to maintain SA’s best teams. No ROI for orgs anymore due to the lack of tournaments. 5. Vast majority have lost their passion for gaming.

The amount of egos in the ZA Epsorts Scene is so wild, people can never be wrong.

What happened with the local CS scene? For years signups to tournaments, sponsorships and the quality of tournaments were growing. Why has cs continued to grow internationally but locally it is a shell of what it use to be?

If these tweets make someone at ACGL or Mettlestate angry (and I hope it does). Fantastic. If it means burning it all down and starting from 0 in order to reach some level of success for our players, then I’ll be the one to curate it.
