Hypertension is often called a “silent killer” because many people do not feel sick – even when their blood pressure is already high. A quick blood pressure check can help people act early, seek care and prevent serious health problems later. This #WorldHypertensionDay, make checking your blood pressure part of caring for yourself – and your family. Check your pressure. Protect your future.

Bladder cancer remains an overlooked health challenge in Kenya. Many cases are diagnosed late because early symptoms, such as blood in urine or frequent urination, are misunderstood or ignored. As NCI-K, we are committed to promoting early detection, running awareness campaigns, and enhancing public education to ensure better outcomes for all Kenyans. With timely screening and treatment, bladder cancer can be effectively managed as we work towards a cancer-free nation. @DFHRC @Kebungo @gonzalolopezcu @HonMosiria @ACF_France @ntvkenya @K24Tv @TheStarKenya @oncodaily @duke_mogakadr @Eng_F_Ngeno #BladderCancerAwareness #NCIKenya #EarlyDetectionSavesLives #BladderCancer #CancerPrevention

Gabor Maté On The Lasting Damage Of Childhood Role Reversal Renowned trauma expert Gabor Maté on why so many adults carry undeserved shame from childhood: Maté describes a devastating dynamic that plays out in countless families when a child is unconsciously assigned a job that was never theirs to do. "It's never the child's job to make the parents happy or to create peace in the family." But when a child is placed in that position, the consequences follow them for life. Maté explains: "The child invariably fails, which instills a huge sense of guilt and inadequacy for not having fulfilled a task that should have been yours in the first place." The cruelty of this dynamic, he points out, is that it inverts the natural order of the parent-child relationship: "It's a reversal of roles, cuz whose job it is to hold who emotionally, to create peace? And so when a child is forced into that position, again as an adaptation to maintain a relationship with the parents, she's given an impossible task that she's bound to fail at and bound to feel shame over." His conclusion: "Any shame and guilt that you feel is completely undeserved." But noticing these patterns is only the first step. How we question ourselves matters just as much as whether we question ourselves at all. Maté warns that most self-inquiry isn't actually inquiry but a self-attack in disguise: "So I could say 'why am I behaving this way?' Is that a question? No, it's an indictment." The shift he recommends is subtle but transformative: "But I said 'Hm, I wonder why I'm behaving that way.' So we need to begin to develop that compassionate curiosity towards the self, where we start looking not to 'why did I' not this indictment, as you say but genuine curiosity."

Greening schools is more than planting trees, it’s nurturing future leaders and a healthier planet. Every garden, every tree, and every green space teaches students the value of sustainability. Together, we can transform schools into hubs of learning, growth, and climate action🌳

If children's lower brain systems are disorganised, disrupted, emotional regulation shuts down & they cannot do their best work. What can look like disruption or defiance, is often an unrecognised survival state doing exactly what its supposed to do to protect them.🧠🌱

Young people are already making these choices!! Your silence and stigma just make them unsafe. #MarchForAllLives You can’t shout “protect life” while ignoring young women dying from unsafe abortion. That’s hypocrisy. #MarchforLife2026

Who pays the price of these restrictions? Young women. Every single time. #MarchForAllLives Let’s be honest, abortion is happening. The real question is: will young people survive it? #MarchforLife2026
