Derick led the Ramblers in ERA last season at 1.09. He also paced the team in appearances, innings pitched, strikeouts and wins. At the plate, he hit .333 with a pair of homeruns and 24 runs batted in.

Congratulations to Prep's Derick Friedman. He has committed to @HurstBaseball to play next season on scholarship. He was recruited as both a pitcher and an infielder.

First, I would like to thank God for giving me the ability and strength to play the game of baseball. I’d also like to thank my Dad, Mom, brother and family for supporting me along this journey. I give thanks to Coach Verdi for countless hours of catching lessons and making me into the catcher that I am today. Next, I would like to thank the Shenango Varsity coaching staff, Coach Othites, Coach Colella, Coach Owrey, Coach Ross, and Coach Zarone for providing me with the opportunity to grow as a player and a teammate.
