It’s amazing how the inconsistency of NHL referees determines the outcome of hockey games. So sad that the nhl refs tonight put a nail in the coffin. Two players not looking at each other results in a penalty. A deliberate pick does not. The pick results in a goal. NHL refs?

NG furnace & old fashion air conditioner Makes more sense & more cost effective
John Lee Pettimore@JohnLeePettim13

Ok so I did some digging on heat pumps and what the costs would be to install, and run in northern Canada where winters see many -20 days. Here's the breakdown: 1600 sq ft. house with a full basement. First off you would need a dual fuel system, i.e. forced gas furnace plus heat pump. Costs for installation and pump: Usually needs a 4–5 ton variable-capacity cold-climate unit. Lower end (~$14k–$18k): Good existing ducts, no major electrical panel upgrade, straightforward install. Higher end ($20k–$25k+): Duct modifications needed, electrical service upgrade (common in older homes), or more complex basement/main-floor zoning. Typical range: $14,000 – $25,000 CAD (all-in, including labour, permits, and minor duct/electrical work). Cost to run: Effective all-in rate (with delivery, transmission, etc.): Usually 14–17 ¢/kWh during high winter usage. Running: $350–$650/month in peak winter months on electricity. Hybrid i.e. gas furnace plus heat pump keeps annual costs lowest. Payback vs. keeping/replacing just a gas furnace is usually 10–15+ years unless gas prices rise sharply or you get strong incentives. So lets look at this realistically: Cost for install 20K+ $400-650 a month in winter to run it + gas costs. Payback 10-15 years. These are real world costs/numbers not some bullshit propaganda the government or online idiots are spewing. Is it worth it in cold climate Canada or better to just keep and run your natural gas furnace ? You be the judge.

I am native Albertan, 70 years old and have gone from an ardent Canadian nationalist to an independence seeker. Why? Because I see no path to revamp the country, clean up its constitution, balance its electoral representation and fix the structural economic transfers embedded in the Charter. I see no way for the Maritimes, Quebec, Ontario, the West and First Nations to ever come to agreement on the kind of fundamental changes necessary to "fix" Canada. I see no interest from the rest of Canada to undo the horrid changes made by P. Trudeau that changed the highest power in the land from Parliament to the unelected courts. So, more in sorrow than in anger, its time to leave. Feel free to rebut my points as you see fit. To date, there has been nothing but fear-mongering in response, never concrete plans to actually fix Canada.

Canada’s prime minister is doing everything to destroy our relationship with USA. Why? Tariffs do not mean anything to him. China means everything to him. Sending our money abroad is a priority to him (while Canadians line up at food banks). So why? Is it for his profit?

@MarcNixon24 It’s called a barrel of water. How about carney fill his next international flight with jet fuel made from a decarbonized barrel of oil that’s really water. Let’s put it in his plane for the return trip. Wherever he is they can keep him.

"Carney's government is committing to complete its review of Alberta's application, consultation, and environmental impact analysis by Sept. 1, 2027" Come on guys. It's bullshit. They could approve it tomorrow if they really meant it. Independence is the only way left.

Prime Minister, we don't need another photo op, or a higher industrial carbon tax that makes Canada’s energy sector less competitive. Get moving and green-light a pipeline to the Pacific to get shovels in the ground by Christmas: conservative.ca/cpc/more-canad…
