Both "sides" in these debates often cherry-pick; the truth is messy trade-offs.

Yup. Boomers outsourced our jobs, outsourced our manufacturing, imported millions to compete with us for what jobs remained, all while charging TRILLIONS OF FUCKING DOLLARS to our national credit card that they will never have to pay off. They didn't protect America. They destroyed it.

It’s wild that it’s become normal to leave your kids at daycare five days a week, eight hours a day, just so you can go to a job that mainly pays for daycare, the car to get there, and a house you’re rarely home to enjoy. We’re stuck in a cycle of working just to afford a life we barely get to live.

I’ve never flown first class and I really don’t see the appeal. It doesn’t even look much different. I’m not going to eat/drink on the plane anyway. There’s a bit more leg room which is certainly somewhat appealing but not the difference of first class and economy appealing. What am I missing?

@Cantrushit There is a way bigger split now between those who work smart, and those who try to compete for jobs that require skills that everyone can do. Start working smart. Start a business, learn a trade, get licensed in something that not everyone can do.

As a Gen Xer, I can tell you boomers and even my own generation comparing their 20s to today’s 20-30 year-olds needs to stop. I paid $600 for a West Hollywood apartment at 23. Today it’s $3500. Burgers weren’t $20, they were $6 to $8 in a nice restaurant. Life is not comparable. It’s a completely different world now.😑

Question: if we're supposed to scrimp and save money for a house, and the solution is to eat literally poverty food like we lost a war, how on are we supposed to actually afford anything nice? Renovations, decent furniture, stuff like that.

Nobody is saying Boomers didn’t work hard. What we’re saying is that you’re denying that you could afford a decent quality of life by working in retail or in a factory. And then you get defensive and say younger generations don’t work hard. Just acknowledge reality.

Boomers didn’t buy RVs that they couldn’t afford, we tented it. Boomers didn’t buy new cars, we bought used ones. Boomers didn’t spend six bucks for a cup of coffee at Starbucks. Boomers could hang all their clothes in a four foot closet. Boomers didn’t cry how tough their lives were, we fought through the tough times. Boomers have everything they have because they managed their money, didn’t squander it on frivolous things, and invested it in proven technologies and long term successful businesses. Boomers have zero fucks to give for whiners, fools, and couch potatoes.

Now, we all know. We're occupied. Israel controls our government. Anyone telling you otherwise is an obvious liar. This is the time for patriots. We now get to fight for independence again.
