@J_Swish24 Jordie my man. I agree to a certain point. Pelley is seriously hinting toward a re-tool though as opposed to rebuild! That’s what would have me up in arms if I were a fan of those chumps. Also, Matthews and Willy as “foundational pieces”. C’mon, like c’mon man!

Who gives a shit how Keith Pelley’s press conference sounded or how you may have interpreted it. You people judging words over actions are total sheep. If this is the guy making decisions. Judge what his does moving forward over some bullshit press conference in late March. And I don’t even have any skin in the game. It’s all noise people create amongst each other and then others piggyback off of what someone else says = 🐑🐏. I’m not always right, usually only like 99% of the time but this narrative is pathetic. Nothing has even happened yet besides words coming off a chin. Talk is dollar menu behavior. Actions are dry aged top shelf center cut prime beef. Why do I always have to coach people in media for free. I’ll hang up. -People’s, The Moral Compass of Hockey

@Jay_D_Rosehill Above average 2nd line winger on a quality team is his prime. A piece - yes. If he’s overvalued by another team and you can add him to say Carlo, the Avs 1st plus Danford for a Robert Thomas type…. You do it.

@habs_phoenix Great point. It happened to Brian Wilde as well. I always enjoyed his interactions with people. He then became defensive and impatient. X can have a lot of trolls that thrive on that unfortunately. Thankfully Brian still posts his excellent Call of the Wilde Article.

I have no idea what happened to Mitch Gallo in his personal life, but he was always interesting to hear to his opinion. The last year he’s gone off the deep end. He’s aggressive and very defensive if you challenge his opinion. He wasn’t like that before. Divorce? Depression? 🤷‍♂️

Turning his back to the play and going on his backhand doesn't stop the puck from bouncing... The winning goal was bad luck and not a mistake. Newhook and Kapanen deserved not seeing the ice in the third period last night. Some of the takes today are wild.

People say, Gally is back. 🤔 0 hits, 2 giveaways, didnt win many board battles, 1 Shot, he cannot apply man to man in D zone vs a fast team anymore. Again, i'd rather have Bolduc.

@mndamico Hi Marco. My wife and I are coming from Peterborough to Montreal for the weekend games. We’ve got tickets for Saturday but not Sunday. Any intel on the scalpers out front on game day? Cheaper closer to puck drop or stay away all together? Any other suggestions? Thanks

@TregeWilson_THW @CanadiensMTL @ChantalMachabee Quick question on this topic. My wife and I have tickets for Saturday. We’re staying for Sunday vs Sharks as well but don’t have tickets. We’re coming from about 5 hours away (Lindsay-Peterborough area) Are the scalpers out front cheaper the closer you wait until puck drop?

Going to put this out on a whim/prayer, but do I have #GoHabsGo connections on here? Would be looking for 6-8 tickets for a game in April. My old man turns 70 and with his health the last little bit, it may be the last chance to get out to a game with all of us. DMs are open.

Personally, I don’t think dressing Xhekaj would have made a difference tonight. Nick Cousins won’t stop running people just because Xheka is dressed, he will just run away from him. Heck, he is running away from Anderson and Struble.

@Rick1042 Struble pounded Cousins earlier in the season, and has won more fights than Xhekaj this season. The complaint is fruitless and tedious.

@HabsCastPodcast Agreed. 100%. Grant - any ideas on potential avenues for the Habs to get off the Montembault and Carrier contracts for next year? There will be a TON of cap space the following year with Gallagher and Anderson contracts expiring as well.

Habs should have been calling up Reinbacher this week after making a couple of deadline deals that didn't leave them in this inexcusable cap situation. He is a discernible upgrade on Carrier RIGHT NOW. #HabsCast

@coreylandsberg I whole heartedly agree. Hage is a great prospect with potential in a top 6 role. But, there’s no guarantee he stays at the C position. Sometimes you just can’t fit a square peg in a round hole no matter how much you try! If he hits, best case scenario - he’s Thomas lite.

@DHabs44 And that might have been a huge mistake for the Habs. I look at the East this year and say its so wide open that Robert Thomas could have been the difference for a team. Hage may never have that impact.

If the Leafs were talking about a Knies trade thats a good thing. For almost a decade they would have dismissed the idea of trading any of their core no matter how clear it was that it wasn't working. This is at least the behaviour of a team that knows they have to do something
Sportsnet 590 The FAN@FAN590

“There is a sense that the deal [Kent Hughes] was working on was with the Leafs… I can tell you [Matthew Knies’] name was out there with multiple teams.” @RealKyper shares what he heard about a potential Leafs–Canadiens deal before the deadline with @jtbourne and @SamAMcKee.

@coreylandsberg I understand your point but it was heavily rumoured that Kent Hughes refused to move Hage even for a more sought after asset in Robert Thomas. I’m a Knies fan but he’s not in the Thomas stratosphere.

@DHabs44 It would definitely start with Michael Hage. And probably include Guhle as well. Knies is the best player in that deal so if the Leafs were to give him up there has to be 2 great prospects and probably a 1st in return.

@grantmccagg @HabsDigest Love Knies and the way he can complete a line. He could have easily been a Habs draft pick but they went a different direction in his draft year. Knies - Kapanen - Demidov the 2nd line of the future? Has the proper elements to succeed. Depends on return from Habs.

Some names that come to my mind: Matthew Knies Anton Lundell Quinton Byfield Do I have literally any source or reasoning for this information? No. But they kind of fit the bill for me. Thoughts?

🤯 "Rumour has it that Hughes' big deal was a young forward. There's a name circulating behind the scenes... and if you heard it, you'd probably be as shocked as I was. It makes you wonder why the other team would want to trade that player to the Canadiens." via @NCloutierTVA

@TheProspectDon Excellent question! What do you think? Zharovsky, Kapanen, Xhekaj and 1st? Too much - too little? I‘m guessing it didn’t get done today as there was a roster piece Hughes didn’t want to part with enroute to the playoffs. Hage was off the table from the get go.

I see Nemec's name being mentioned for the Habs, but I'm not sure there's a great fit. He is average in size and, IMO, average defensively. They need a big, physical defensive defenceman or two, and they would be less costly than Nemec.

@lori10habs I think he’ll need time before stepping into an NHL playoff game. He’s very skilled but he’s also very light on his skates (think early Slafkovsky - where a gentle breeze would knock him down). Maybe heavily guarded minutes and 2nd pp unit if it happens.

Will Hage be the most important addition for the #Habs before the playoffs?
Marco D'Amico@mndamico

#LetsGoFlyers prospect Porter Martone on #GoHabsGo prospect Michael Hage: “He’s a hell of a player. You see how smooth and effortless of a skater he is. He’s got a really good hockey IQ and really knows how to make plays. You could arguably say he was our best player.”

Morgan Reilly has been a soldier for the Leafs and there aren’t many people cut out for 13 seasons in Toronto. But finding a way to talk him into a change feels essential. Hard to imagine a world where they contend with this version of him on a $7.5M ticket for four more years.
