@Cameron_Scott95 @NathanJRobinson He's the Executive branch -- he's NOT supposed to hold the purse strings. WHAT HE'S DONE IS ILLEGAL ON THE FACE OF IT. i cannot believe people are just normalizing/rationalizing this shit. And no -- no one should just "play ball" with criminals doing illegal shit.

@NathanJRobinson She secured funding for protecting the state’s environment. What was she supposed to do? Give him the Middle finger and not get the funding? You’d complain about that too.

Actually I think this photo of Gretchen Whitmer is one of the single most powerful symbolic depictions of the contemporary Democratic Party leadership. "decking yourself out in blue as if you're different but cooperating with Trump while pretending not to" says it all

@JeffMightBWrong Oh, also b/c the Democrats who - as you put it - disagree with the Left, actually NEVER EXPLAIN EXACTLY WHY they disagree? Take Medicare For All for example, "Centrist" Dems cannot and will not publicly defend being against it. They would be unmasked & roasted.

@JeffMightBWrong Because CHANGE never ever comes. It's always ; damn, that pesky-ass Senate Parliamentarian. Or damn, there were juuuuuust enough Democrats crossing over the line to NOT have that legislation helping regular people actually pass. That's why.

@Ania_In_UA Federov showed that yes, you CAN WIN by doing exactly that. He supplied the front to the soldiers who NEEDED them. And then logically employed tech to SAVE lives. This kind of morality was kicking the Russians ass on the battlefield. Discontinue at Ukraine's existential risk.

Guys! I'm so sorry the world is not perfect and Ukraine can't win by simply claiming moral highground. I'm so sorry Zelensky has to make deals with the Saudis and give interviews to Laura Loomer to try and improve our position. That's okay, you can remain morally unblemished.

"We should be able to criticize Israel without being accused of antisemitism." Yes, I agree. The issue is many of you have been antisemitic in your criticisms of Israel and that's why Jews are being shot and lit on fire in the name of "Free Palestine." Stop denying the reality.

@ItsTheEnforcer it is IF the Ukraninan government is wildly corrupt. Then it's patriotic to demand back into the system to reform it and win the war. Ask yourself: why didnt he call for Zelensky to resign? WHY doesnt he start a political run for President?

Hot take: Zelenskyy is the president of Ukraine and it’s his prerogative to appoint and remove cabinet members. If some guy gets removed from his position, then he starts rallying and dividing Ukrainians to strong-arm his way back into that job — that’s not a patriot…

You know, anyone fighting DSA more than MAGA is precisely why DSA is necessary and precisely why MAGA exists in the first place. because the Democratic Establishment is showing they are more willing to let MAGA win than actually do something for the people They will always have JUST enough votes to ensure we move further and further to the Right. MAGA has to be stopped for the sake of our Republic, and here they are spending energy fighting DSA. WTAF BRO

"Fedorov’s stubborn refusal to accept resignation from this specific post makes sense only for someone who desperately wants to have real impact on the course of the war. It’s this stubbornness that vouches for his motive better than anything else." - @olya_rudenko.
Olga Rudenko@olya_rudenko

Here’s the thing: If Mykhailo Fedorov was after personal gains, he would not be fighting to return to Defense Ministry. He would ride this wave of protests to a solo political career. And yet you don’t see him doing that.

@MaoDaYang @IAPonomarenko You should be asking: IF Federov is a power-hungry a**hole, then WHY didn't he publicly advocate for himself to be President or HOLD ELECTIONS?! <so that Federov could run> ? Cause he doesn't care about that. it tells you how deep the corruption is in Ukraine. sickening

@IAPonomarenko I’m baffled Fedorov refused to accept the new position Zelenskyy created for him. He could have negotiated the scope of his authority, but insisted on being appointed to the exact MoD position he wanted then I’m sorry to say it comes across as rather arrogant and inflexible.

Fedorov’s reaction (i.e. saying no to any offer but the position of the defense minister) is more than understandable. A deputy PM post for military technology that Zelensky’s offering him might sound sexy, but in reality it’s nothing more than a figurehead role with no authority and no budgets, whose sole function would be to sit tight, put on a show of vigorous reformist activity, and stay out of the way of the respectable people making money off the war’s state procurement. Some other official would be thrilled to land such a cushy, no-hassle post. But not someone who actually wants to change the situation and lead Ukraine to victory in the war. So Zelensky will have to swallow his made-up pride here too and stop listening to his buddies. Because everyone wants Fedorov back, from the new top military command to civil society, and he’ll have to fully correct this incompetent mistake of his.

@MaoDaYang @IAPonomarenko "negotiated the scope of his authority" Oh yeah, with billions of dollars on the line.... sure. Re-read his words. He said it -- ANY OTHER POSITION is gonna be a figurehead and Ukraine risks the entire F-ing war because of this.

@Tor_Barstad @IAPonomarenko Ya know that WAS an option, but Zelensky chose someone much less effective, an establishment figure who will be controlled so that the grift keeps on going.

@IAPonomarenko In terms of swallowing pride, wouldn't a compromise be to appoint someone who shares Fedorov's preferences/vision? E.g. someone Fedorov trusts from Fedorov's team?
