@Bkitch1Bodie Had the same experience on vacation in AZ. Made ground beef with eggs in the morning. 85%. Disgusting. Threw 3/4 away. Paid $7 for a pound. Night and day difference from our local meat supply.

@dane_berggren @JimSmith87 PIK was designed to leave land idle. CRP serves a purpose of multiple reasons. I just took a 15 acre unproductive piece out this year and converted to CRP. Profitable, habitat, no wasting inputs. No brainer. If payments were higher I’d convert more.
English

@DJEntringer @JimSmith87 So a new PIK program
English

@KurtHolscher @BenRiensche I’d imagine most do in dry but was curious since it doesn’t say on the harvest metrics that he has there.
English

@DJEntringer @BenRiensche Does anyone really talk in wet bushels? We never have, but possibly we are the odd duck.
English

@bandedagllc I had a similar experience last year. Fall strip-tilled and was anticipating planting corn on corn there. Switched that spring and split the field with 70ac corn 70 of soybeans. Fertilized heavy for corn with P and K and Zn. Best looking beans I’ve ever seen and worst yielding.
English

Interesting enough, beans ain’t that big on fall banded fertilizer either:
Stripped NO Fertilizer: 98.42bu/ac
Stripped w/ Fertilizer: 100.22bu/ac
This was average of 4 replicated trials with and without fertilizer but ALL 30” rows were stripped last fall.
I will be happy to send individual reps if requested but nothing earth shattering in any of them….

@TheTedSpread Love following along. Keep it up. Is there a number of kernels per bushel you use for this test?
English

Stop 8 in Madison co NE. First 20 around I’ve seen so far. The other two were 16 and 18. Yield check 193. Non irrigated #pftour25

English

@AgProfessional How many kernels per bushel do you guys use? Curious for my own as well. Always a hard one to judge for me.
English

2nd stop was in Cedar co NE where we stopped at some non irrigated corn. This area typically shows stress easily. The past 4 years have been dry. This year no signs of drought stress, a rare occurrence. Our calculations came out at 175-200 for dry land farm was hoping 200. #OATT

@PetersenFarms @PetersonLJacob @AgronomyChad Strip-till beans here in SD have worked nicely for us. Planted April 12th. Picture was 10 days ago.

English

@PetersonLJacob @AgronomyChad Update:
Been a good 5 weeks.
No post spray yet, also no flowers.
Still hoping to stave off disaster with this spring strip till thing.

English

And this is where we would not get a crop planted in the valley.
Jacob Peterson@PetersonLJacob
Just insane how wet it is with this spring strip only, 2” of rain in a month in a half still far from ideal planting conditions.
English

@Bkitch1Bodie Can you post your tissue tests? I’d love to see those and compare.
English

@husker_cattle Not all think this way thankfully. We live in an area where we manage for them and leave standing crop for them through the winter. If they’re that concerned with being at the mercy or Mother Nature (weather and wildlife) then maybe they should choose a different occupation 😂

English

Go read through the replies to this post. The amount of farmers that say they run them all over or shoot them and the complete disregard for wildlife and nature is another reason I hate the American corn farmer. They have no regard for anyone but themselves.
Sam@MI_beef
I hate these things, but I’m not an asshole
English

@TroyPSilva A literal disgrace at every single level except MLB- there’s still a level of integrity and respect for the game. It’s laughable and sad at the same time.
English

@MaxROIFarmer @sf28430 Mature bucks will utilize small strips (10-20ft) a lot during the end of summer/fall. Doe and fawns like a most structured area with better cover for fawning and escaping predators. Just depends what your goals are.
English

Whitetail people, how wide does a strip of brush/trees etc have to be in order for deer to bed in it reliably?
@sf28430
English

@MaxROIFarmer Do you have anything on your corn head from the previous fall to help size residue more?

@ChetEdinger @Qconnealy19 100% what he said. Spray it first and then plant it. Also, do not use steel. It will plant way better by planting into it. The rye creates a garden like seedbed underneath. Just make sure you have enough closing pressure. Way too many clumps and worse seed/soil contact if worked
English

@Qconnealy19 If going to corn you’ll want the Rye crispy brown when planting it. We feel there is allelopathy between cereal Rye & corn.
English

So I’m going to be honest as a first time cover cropper. What’s my next step here coming into #plant25 ? When do I terminate this green stuff or is it easier to use a little steel therapy to prep before planting? It’ll be going to irrigated corn 🌽 #pleaseHelp #agX
