@talkMacca Do you think the same is happening in the URC and if not, why? No relegation, top half qualifies for play-offs (and Champions Cup). Currently 11 teams can make top 8. 7 can make top 4 for home playoffs.

I might be putting 2 and 2 together and getting 375 here - but this weekend is why I'm not in favour of ring fencing. The bottom 4 sides, who are all thinking about next season already, have been pumped. Does this grow the game like we want? And no. I don't know the answer

The gap between the top 6 and bottom 4 this season is remarkable. If the league want a proper franchise style model (rightly or wrongly) this needs to be addressed asap. 10 competitive teams is a lot more sellable than 6 competing and 4 in it to make up the numbers

I’m not not-picking. Some of them have been regular starters and part of the core. Your timeframe is a bit hazy. Lowe started six seasons ago, Gibson-Park five years ago behind Murray. Hansen in 2022. Herring was a bench option but now overtaken by Sheehan, Kelleher, McCarthy. The point I’m making is that alternates or replacements have been there or come through more recently. Your initial claim is that those 6 are there because others weren’t/aren’t there or developed. Players like Clarkson, O’Toole, Henshaw, McCloskey, Nash, O’Brien, Baloucoune, Stockdale, Osbourne, Kelleher, Sheehan would prove otherwise. I’d also argue Ireland have not been dominant since RWC 2023 - so perhaps the 4/6 regular starters contributed to that also…
