In honor of Black History Month, we're celebrating some of the greatest players in our history. Willie “Pops" Stargell played 21 seasons with the Pirates and is the club’s all-time leader in home runs (475), RBI (1,540) and extra-base hits (953). A seven-time All-Star, Willie’s inspirational leadership contributed greatly to the Pirates’ World Championships in 1971 and 1979. He shared N.L. MVP honors in 1979 and was also named MVP of both the LCS and World Series that season. Willie was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1988.

It is with a heavy heart that we relay the news of the passing of legendary Pirates and National Baseball Hall of Famer, Bill Mazeroski. Maz was a 7-time All-Star who hit the greatest home run in baseball history. He was a beloved member of the Pirates family and he will be deeply missed.
