KU last played in the Liberty Bowl in 1973. That 7-3-1 team played Wash St, at FSU, Minn, and at Tenn in a tough non conference schedule !They lost 28-27 to the #9 Vols in a game played in Memphis. KU made such a great showing -Memphis wanted them back for the Bowl!
